With its understated black-and-white cover, GUERILLA CITY allows Guerilla Black to let his talent do the talking, delivering one of the most refreshing debut albums of 2004. When Guerilla Black began appearing on mix tapes, comparisons to the Notorious B.I.G. popped up so frequently that he addresses and dismisses the similarities in the first lines of the record's opening track, "Hearts of Fire." In truth, Guerilla's looks are strikingly similar to those of Christopher "Biggie" Wallace; the sizeable rapper so resembles the fallen legend that it's almost surprising to note that Guerilla Black is not related to Wallace. (His given name is Charles Tony Williamson.)
While Guerilla does possess a comparable relaxed style and the kind of dry wit that made Biggie Smalls huge, the Los Angeles native earns the considerable buzz his record generated, with his own remarkable skills. Guerilla Black explores the chaotic world around him with lyrical scenarios worthy of Nas, whether a stone-cold hustler with political perceptiveness on "Say What" or a tender lover pondering a future marriage with a new love on "Girlfriend." Flawlessly produced, and augmented by numerous guest shots, most notably Beenie Man on the single "Compton," GUERILLA CITY announces Guerilla Black as an important rapper on the scene.
Features collaborations with Mario Winans, Nate Dogg and Beenie Man among others.

Guerilla Black - GUERILLA CITY This is a great way to start off if your Guerilla Black, GUERILLA CITY is bangin'. This cat has been catching a lot of heat for sounding like THE NOTORIOUS B.I.G. which I think is foolish. I say that because everybody in the game now a days whether they sound like somebody or not rhyme about the same subject matter anyways - GANG BANGIN'/THUGGIN'/PIMPIN'/MONEY/DRUG DEALIN'/PARTYIN'/WOMEN, call it the formula format 90% of your favorite rappers go by to make their albums today. GUERILLA CITY is filled with some bangin' beats and Guerilla Black's flow fits the production perfectly. I have to give this cat his props because he's droppin' some heat and I believe his next album will be just as good if not better than GUERILLA CITY. Here are some good tracks to checkout on GUERILLA CITY - COMPTON, YOU'RE THE ONE and WHAT WE GONNA DO. Submitted by PMG (Salem, NH, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Great Album One of the best flowing consistant rappers I've heard in awhile.
His music is just good all the time and he doesn't need to have 10 guests on his album to define his career unlike other rappers (Obie Trice, Game and so on) Submitted by Steven (Canada) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

'I Love It When They Call Me Black Guerilla' Notorious BIG (RIP)is THE biggest rapper of al times if you ask me. So I really really miss his lyrics, voice, style of rappin' etc.
So hey, who cares that Guerilla Black is almost a copy of The Notorious BIG. I don't. After hearing that the Snoop Dogg concert was sold out and now discovering an exact copy of the Notorious BIG (heard about the BIG-copy but could never find out who it was)my day can't be better.
Hope we will here allot more of Guerilla Black and everybody should buy his CD!!!! Submitted by Holland (Enkhuizen) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Guerilla City album
$13.15 Although 2004's 1ST INFANTRY was his first solo album, even the most casual follower of hardcore rap is familiar with the Alchemist. He supplies some of the strongest, hardest beats for everyone from Nas to Cypress Hill, and has years of experience on the underground hip-hop scene. There's a reason that the best in the rap game seek the Alchemist out--few can match him when it comes to providing immediately captivating, instantly identifiable tracks.
On 1st INFANTRY, the Alchemist's MC friends turn the favor around on an all-star gathering, which features a collection of previously unreleased cuts. Mobb Deep provided some of the Alchemist's best moments (and vice versa) as both were rising to glory, and here the duo of Havoc & Prodigy contribute to another classic with the menacing beauty of "It's a Craze." Prodigy teams with rap's premier lyricist, Nas, on another standout track, "Tick Tock." The Alchemist was doing amazing work with the West Coast crew Dilated Peoples long before they broke out, so it's no surprise they provide a powerful moment on the quirky, funky ...
| | United Ghettos Of America, Vol. 2 CD (2004)
Guerilla City CD music
$14.35 Minus some high-profile guest spots on other rappers' albums, Yukmouth has made little impression outside of rap's hardcore inner circle since his days with the Luniz. With the guest stars often overtaking the man and an overstuffed track list, United Ghettos of America, Vol. 2 isn't going to change that much, but the hardcore get a better album than usual and it's a shame some of these tracks won't even make it to radio. "We Just Wanna Thug" is bright electro with a great N.O.R.E. appearance, E-40 and Yuk nail it on "Kalifornia G'z," "I Love Dro" is a worthy smoking song, and the cinematic "American Me" is just about the most exciting moment Yukmouth has served up by his lonesome. Chalk it all up to the guest stars. Not that their raps are better; it's just that Yukmouth seems more inspired when he's bouncing his skills off others (been that way since the Luniz). Also of note is the presence of Mike Dean, the producer/engineer who has been behind a bunch of great rap albums from the South and Texas. ...
| | Fabolous Real Talk CD (2004)
Guerilla City music CDs
$10.49 On Fabolous's third studio record, REAL TALK, he claims that there is much more to him than his string of radio-friendly singles might indicate. That's not to say that the New York City rapper doesn't serve up simple, ready-for-radio moments in abundance, but even the first single, "Breathe," with its Supertramp sample and unusual path to a stunning hook, reveals an artist with much more depth.
"Don't Stop Won't Stop," which follows the striking intro, sports a sinister, Geto Boys-style backdrop and lyrics that embrace the familiar trappings of guns, cars, women, and ...
| | Jay-Z Unfinished Business CD (2004)
Guerilla City songs
$15.39 On a Friday evening in October 2004, the volatile union between two always-controversial artists, R. Kelly and Jay-Z, famously came to a crashing halt before thousands on stage in New York's Madison Square Garden. Kelly stormed off the stage, and accusations of pepper-spray attacks, guns in the audience, and superstar insecurity flew. Lawyers became involved, and the fight was on.
In happier times, merely days earlier, Kelly and Jay-Z released their second and (barring a reconciliation of epic proportions) final collaboration, UNFINISHED BUSINESS. While a clash of egos may ...
| | Ja Rule R.U.L.E. CD (2004)
Guerilla City album
$11.99 Rule hits a high note early in the record on "Wonderful," a magnificent duet with another troubled soul, R. Kelly; here Kelly soars, and Ja Rule plays off of his singing to perfection. Ja Rule's loving street anthem "New York" boasts unforgettable beats, surprisingly reflective lyrics, and memorable turns from Fat Joe and Jadakiss. ...

Guerilla City CD music
