All tracks have been digitally mastered using HDCD technology.
Penned by award-winning cinematic composer James Horner, the soundtrack of TITANIC re-creates the romance and adventure of the hit film. The story of the expensive and unsinkable behemoth that collided with an iceberg and quickly sunk has been told countless times. Yet the tale of the doomed Titanic has been turned into a love story, which underscores the triumph of the heart above even the most impossible odds.
Horner's swelling orchestrations are equally inspiring and ominous, bringing to life the film's magical moments, from the ship's triumphant departure to its well-known sinking, running the gamut of emotions adeptly. Combining tasteful synthesizer sounds with symphonic arrangements is a bold compositional move which pays off perfectly--uniting the historical period of the film to our own, bringing the viewer closer to the subject. As a final touch, Celine Dion contributes a beautiful rendition of "My Heart Will Go On-- The Love Theme From The Titanic," which serves as the crowning glory in this touching and dramatic musical score.
Vinyl Classics reissue of the soundtrack to the 1997 blockbuster. The 1997 Academy Award winner for Best Dramatic Score, James Horner's Titanic was the first soundtrack to reach the No. 1 slot on the Billboard charts in two decades. Horner's combination of synths, chorale, and orchestra perfectly underscores the action in director James Cameron's 20th-century melodrama. Also features Celine Dion's hit 'My Heart Will Go On'. The CD looks like vinyl, and includes see-through slipcase. Features the same track listing as the US pressing. Sony. 2004.

$15.05 As part of a seventieth year celebration for Blue Note records, the label convened a collection of younger and experienced jazz stars to play hard bop compositions closely identified with their mid-'50s to mid-'60s glory days. This kind of band has been conceived before -- remember Out of the Blue? -- but the difference is these are not new rising stars, but established musicians who have carved their own identities on other labels, except pianist and ostensible leader Bill Charlap. Trumpeter Nicholas Payton, saxophonists Steve Wilson or Ravi Coltrane, and guitarist Peter Bernstein have never recorded for Blue Note as leaders, so it is a curious collection of personnel to process as an identifiable Blue Note band. While certainly a nostalgia trip through these famous tunes, the rearrangements are at times diffuse, somewhat confusing, and lack a certain spark of originality the selections had when they were born. This is not to say the playing itself is substandard, it is far from that via these excellent jazz musicians. These are clearly reimagined tunes, faithful to the precepts of ...
