| | Quasimoto Further Adventures Of Lord Quas CD (2005)
Conversations With Dudley CD music
$12.79 THE FURTHER ADVENTURES OF LORD QUAS is the second collage of glorious madness from the gifted MC Quasimoto. Quasimoto is actually versatile producer Madlib, at his most demented, bizarre, and magnificent. The album opens with maniacal, Vincent Price-style laughing, before Madlib announces ...
| | Janet Jackson Number Ones CDs (2009)
Conversations With Dudley music CDs
$15.64 Number Ones replaces Design of a Decade, released 14 years prior. Excepting the new song "Make Me" (hard neo-disco/funk excellence), each song here was indeed a number one hit on Billboard's various charts, though "Got 'Til It's Gone" sneaks through a side door via the Japanese charts. One number one, oddly, is missing: "So Excited," a perfectly fine, 2006 single which topped the club chart. This set is more thorough with 1986-1996, too, adding Herb Alpert's "Diamonds" -- which would not have been out ...

| | Barry White All-Time Greatest Hits CD (1995)
Conversations With Dudley album
$11.99 Barry White's ALL-TIME GREATEST HITS contains the original single versions of his classic solo hits, as well as two songs White performed as the lead vocalist of the Love Unlimited Orchestra. All tracks were previously released on the 20th Century Records label.
All tracks digitally remastered by Gary Mayo (Polygram Studios).
It took quite a while for a definitive Barry White compilation to hit the market, but All-Time Greatest Hits -- part of Mercury's Funk Essentials series -- finally filled the bill in 1995. Boasting a full 20 tracks from White's heyday of 1973-1978, more than half of which made the R&B Top Ten, All-Time Greatest Hits is easily the most generous single-disc White collection on the market. It includes the edited single versions, not the full-length album tracks, which actually makes for a more digestible introduction to White's achievements. Like his forebear Isaac Hayes, White was not just a deep-voiced crooner, but a talented producer and arranger who'd spent years honing his craft behind the scenes in the industry. And like Hayes, White spent a great deal of time setting up moods on his albums, using lush, sweeping orchestrations to build very gradually to climaxes. (Actually, that probably explains a good deal of his effectiveness.) But White was not simply a Hayes disciple; his swirling productions were less complex than Hayes', but more in tune with the emerging disco ...
| | Jay Sean All Or Nothing CD (2009)
Conversations With Dudley CD music
$11.16 Borrowing the best bits of his 2008 U.K. release My Own Way while adding a handful of new tracks, All or Nothing is R&B singer Jay Sean's big play for American success. Released by Birdman and Lil Wayne's Cash Money label, the album ushers Sean into a new realm of slickness with the widescreen love song "Down," plus the ridiculously infectious "Do You Remember," which bounces along with dancehall superstar Sean Paul and the King of Crunk, Lil Jon. Another new cut, "War," ends up the ballad of choice with Sean playing the role of a soldier hoping to come home to a still faithful wife. The rest of the pillow talk gems come courtesy of My Own Way with both the exotic "Ride It" and the elegant "Stay" landing here, although the ...
| | Al Green Unchained Melody CD (1995)
Conversations With Dudley music CDs
$6.29 This collection has the same tracks and sequence as the CEMA disc called Unchained Melody. While the material here is first-rate, better and longer collections of Al Green are readily available, and in the case of this brilliant singer, more is always preferred. ~ Steve Leggett
Like its companion piece Here I Am, CEMA Special Markets' budget-line collection Unchained Melody does a very nice job picking out highlights ...
