Amethystium, the recording moniker for keyboardist/composer Oystein Ramfjord, makes lavish, sweeping, New Age music by combining ethereal synth effects with pulsing beats and majestic themes. EVERMIND stays true to the Amethystium formula--the music here is like the soundtrack to some as-yet-unmade film of fantasy and adventure. Expansive imaginary landscapes unfold on EVERMIND, pulling the listener through dark locations that might be geographical ("Shadowlands") or psychological ("Reverie"). Guitarist Helge Krabye and vocalists Lee Nisbet and Martha Krossbakken join Ramfjord, but Ramfjord himself generates the bulk of the sound sculptures. His pulsing bass keys, interlocking melody lines, and synth effects (that recall everything from flutes to strings to the cries of birds) all coalesce with rolling rhythms and a strongly meditative atmosphere for an appealing, deep listening experience. | Evermind Music Review Average Rating: (4.7 out of 5 stars) Pretty Good cd. Sounds exactly like all the other Amethystium I own. Nothing new, but still very pretty and relaxing. Submitted by shpionka (Richland, WA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Amazing! Like Jeff, I didn't take as well to this album at first as I did to the other two, Odonata and Aphelion. This music really does grow on you, however, and it has become my most played CD over the last two months. I'm even making a routine for static trapeze with one of the songs! The thing I love most about Amethystium is that you can never predict how the music will sound. Their rhythms and lyrics are unique and magical, and this is, by far, the best of all the New Age CDs I have ever purchased! Submitted by Kris (Northern Arizona University) Was This Review Helpful? It just keeps getting better with each listen... I received this cd last Thursday (10/7/04) and it is the only cd I have listened to since. At first listen, I did not take to it like I did Aphelion. But the more I listened, the more each song grew on me. The music is great and it grabs hold of you with each listen.
The first 4 songs are incredible. The dreamy like, 'Arcus' followed by the bouncy yet mysterious, 'Into the Twilight'. 'Shadowlands' the first single is dark and dreamy and takes you on a wild ride of enchantment. 'Break of Dawn' leaves you drifting away celebrating life itself. Songs 5 thru 8 are also good. The last 2 songs, 'Fable' and 'Imaginatio' standout as well. Finishing the album in grand fashion.
Lots of dreamy female voices, good beats and great music are what this cd is all about.
Oystein Ramfjord, better known as Amethystium has out done himself again. He shows alot of growth and maturity as an artist. I have all 3 of his albums and it is amazing how each one is better than the other.
If you liked 'Odonata' and 'Aphelion'. You are going to love this even more.

Evermind
$14.65 Popol Vuh was founded by mastermind Florian Fricke in Munich in 1970 and are known as pioneers of electronic music as well as the predecessors of the 90's ambient and trance genre. Florian Fricke was one of the first German musicians who worked with a Moog III, an instrument which created a very new and special sound which was profiled on “Affenstunde". This album quickly became a milestone and practially created a whole new genre. The name and the book Popol Vuh stems from Incan mythology and is the memory of the evolution of humanity. Florian Fricke doesn't like to catagorize his music. "Music is a form of law for me." He died on December 29, 2001 in Munich. Kraut rock at the highest level made by, and for music fans!
Popol Vuh: Djong Yun (vocals); Daniel Fischelscher (guitars, percussion); Al Gromer Khan (sitar); Ted de Jong (tamboura); Florian Fricke (piano). As Florian Fricke moved away from an early synthesizer-centered sound and embraced organic instrumentation in his quest to fuse Eastern and Western musical and spiritual traditions, Popol Vuh's rock orientation became more pronounced. That aspect derived largely ...
