' While sharing a family connection, these two come from entirely different musical backgrounds. Matlach's background is one of formal musical education. The son of a high school band instructor, he was brought up fully submersed in the science of music theory. He became invested in music heavily through his college years, going on to graduate with a degree in musical composition. Proficient as he was on numerous instruments, Daniel found himself gravitating towards the piano. This affinity towards keys now plays an integral role as Daniel uses synthesizers to create the musical backbone of Bruder. Greiman's resume however, reads much differently. There was very little formal education involved in his musical journey; he learned primarily by doing. Although drums were his first instrument, Kayle earned his stripes as a musician playing bass and singing in a touring rock band for the better part of ten years. Hard work and determination gained his trio two indie record deals and enough van-miles to render a U.S. Atlas worthless. Albeit a different journey, Greiman's was one that gained him invaluable knowledge in touring, recording, and performance. As Bruder, Greiman and Matlach find their musical alliance to be a perfect match. Greiman's seasoned vocals and drumming are perfectly complimented by Matlach's intricate synthesizer layers.
