It's Christmas Eve and like every year, the Harringtons take a trip to their in-laws to celebrate the holidays. Taking an unfamiliar shortcut, Mr. Harrington makes the biggest mistake of his life, leading his family down a terror-filled road with no end. Ray Wise, Alexandra Holden, and Lin Shaye star. DVD features include closed captioning and Dolby Digital. This thriller is a heady, suspenseful brew that mixes dark comedy with scare tactics, resulting in a tense buildup and a complexity that belies the apparent simplicity of the plot. Ray Wise plays Frank Harrington, the sharp-witted patriarch of a family that's having difficulties getting along during the holiday season. Driving to Christmas dinner at the in-laws, his passengers include his wife, his psych-student daughter, her unhinged boyfriend Brad, and her teenaged, gothed-out brother. The trouble begins when Frank falls asleep at the wheel, nearly killing everyone; a foreboding sign of what's to come. Soon after realizing that his shortcut has resulted in getting the travellers hopelessly lost, Frank picks up a beautiful, mute lady in white, hitchhiking with a little bundle that appears to be a baby. Things soon turn deadly, and the family embarks on a panic-stricken quest to escape the nightmare they have stumbled into, while their bickering maintains its constancy. Though the special effects are superbly done and the simple scenario is carried along by an impressive buildup, in the end it is the superbly acted characters who carry this film. Along with Wise, ALLY MCBEAL's Alexandra Holden, Amber Smith, (AMERICAN BEAUTY) and Farrely brothers veteran Lin Shay all turn in stellar performances. $13.95 A Billy Joe Shaver album is always cause for celebration, but on this 2007, Grammy-nominated release, the outlaw country troubadour shines in a whole new way. Produced by John Carter Cash, the album features all country-gospel originals, half of them sung in duet with a laundry ...

Dead End movie DVD
$9.69 The grisly and debauched film PATHOLOGY is a juiced-up medical thriller that plays like FLATLINERS with a mean streak and a broken moral compass. Writers Mark Nelvedine and Brian Taylor have created a premise allowing for CSI-like forensics along with heaps of sex and violence, truly making the most of the film's R-rating. A high-end exploitation film with good performances, PATHOLOGY is strong enough for horror fans and should go down smoothly for non-squeamish viewers with a taste for the dark side.
Gifted med student Ted Grey (Milo Ventimiglia, HEROES) arrives at a major Washington, D.C., as an intern, where he is met with suspicion and resentment by the tightly knit group of fellow young pathologists-in-training. Soon, though, Ted is accepted into their circle---where they each take turns committing a murder so that the others may prove their mettle by figuring out the cause of death and celebrate with drug-fueled orgies among the dead bodies in the hospital. Things change for Ted, though, when his law student fiancée, Gwen (Alyssa Milano), moves to the city and helps to scare ...

$36.69 Picking up where NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD left off, and still offering no explanation of why the dead are walking the earth, DAWN OF THE DEAD plunges headlong into one of the most violent and original horror films ever made. After securing an apartment building overcome with flesh-eating zombies, two Philadelphia area SWAT team members, Peter (Ken Foree) and Roger (Scott Reiniger), flee to a television station, where they escape in the station's helicopter with Francine (Gaylen Ross) and Stephen (David Emge), two station employees. Seeking refuge from the zombies and the ensuing hysteria, they land on top of a Pittsburgh area shopping mall, despite the fact that the undead seem to be flocking there. What begins as a stop for supplies becomes ...
