(1 Customer Review)
With material ranging from ska-core circa 1997 to reggae to pop-punk, the Rx Bandits do their version of poppy, radio-friendly positive music quite well. Lyrically, the band tackles a variety of topics from racism to the power of the human will and does so with a musical focus on many styles. Progress is produced quite capably and shows that perhaps advancement can indeed be made for bands with horns, although not without sounds of the past. Fans of the upbeat, Orange County, CA, sound will dig this as it is both catchy and worth repeated listens. Other music fans may be weary of the trendy style the band plays, but what they do, the Rx Bandits undoubtedly do well. ~ Kurt Morris

Progress album
$11.29 In 1994 Weezer burst onto the music scene, reaching platinum status with their debut, and in the process proving that there was still room in an airbrushed MTV world for unrepentant power pop played by decidedly non-airbrushed guys. Following a brief sojourn into semi-deconstructionism, 1997's PINKERTON, the four men who make up Weezer serve up a third offering, WEEZER 2001, returning to the sound and producer of their successful debut.
Nowhere does producer Ric Ocasek define his trademark refined power pop style more than with Weezer. Unlike the immediate, obvious pop hooks of the string of singles on the first album, though, the songs on WEEZER 2001 may take a few listens to settle in. However, once the subtle-yet-undeniable refrains of such tracks ...
| | Rx Bandits Halfway Between Here And There CD (1999)
Progress CD music
$9.75 The RX Bandits' national debut album, Halfway Between Here & There, tends toward the more pop-oriented end of the third wave ska spectrum, compatible with former tourmates like Less Than Jake and Save Ferris. While the album is a bit uneven, that's to ...
| | Rx Bandits Resignation CD (2003) Bonus DVD
Progress music CDs
$8.69 After a major lineup shift, RX Bandits (now featuring six musicians, including founding members Matt Embree and Chris Tsagakis) have returned with a bold new sound. Although elements of the band's punk/ska stylings are still present, THE RESIGNATION is rooted in fierce guitars, dark lyrics, and odd time signatures, displaying the influence of both Tool and the Police. The result is an intriguing hybrid of prog-rock, thrash metal, and ska that touches on a variety of contemporary topics, ...
| | Starting Line With Hopes Of Starting Over CD (2001) Extended Play
Progress songs
$6.69 The Starting Line play a brand of emo pop-punk which will be familiar to those with a knowledge of Drive-Thru Records. In what seems to be the next sub-mainstream indie rock fad, with an over saturation of the market, this style is highlighted by slick packaging (both of the ...
| | Sky Eats Airplane Everything Perfect On The Wrong Day CD (2007) Digipak
Progress album
$8.09 Talk about a strange trajectory, Sky Eats Airplane's debut album, Everything Perfect on the Wrong Day, was not only released exclusively online, at first (only making it to CD a year later, in 2007), but was recorded by a partial band consisting of just vocalist Brack Cantrell and guitarist/programmer Lee Duck. OK, perhaps this is in fact a very modern, new millennium trajectory, the way things are going. At any rate, this hardly posed a problem, fundamentally speaking, for the duo, given their chosen sound: electronics-based Nintendo-core in the vein ...
