5 stars Unbelievable
I can use just very great words. Masterpiece. Genious. Mindblowing. This album has its place among the great musical works like Beethoven's symphonies... Daniel Gildenlöw wrote the most difficult and complex album I've ever heard, both musically and conceptionally. Do we think enough about God? Our World? Our precious kind? Life? death? Simple words, aren't they? Are they really that simple? People who hate this album don't or/and don't want to understand it. By the way, the music 'alone' is just fascinating, after - and especially then - 10th listening, there are so many little, sophisticated patterns in this deep musical river... beautiful piano, british-irish folk song feeling, gospel, musical, typical crazy PoS-rythmic changes, simply amaznig... and in Iter Impius, Daniel sings the stars from the sky... He's got marvellous throut, we've known it for long but in that song he's written on of the best melody in the band's story. Only if you've got 76 minutes to concentrate only one thing. One that contains millions of others.

3 stars Ambitious Effort Comes up Short
By looking at the various reviews, you get the idea that this is an uneven performance. Some of this release is deserving of 5 stars, but too much of it deserves only one. I agree with the reviewer that mentions skipping over songs - that is exactly what I find myself doing. This CD is Daniel Gildenlow's concept album of explaining where we fit in the history of evolution; no small task! Unfortunately, we end up with a very uneven mix of alternately boring (slow-paced, confusing background sounds, narration), and excellent (classic POS) pieces strung together randomly. Daniel explains in his liner notes that putting this concept album together over the last several years left him exhausted - but it leaves the listener the same way. You find yourself really fighting to stay with the musical concept, and ultimately, skipping tracks. They need to get back to "Perfect Element" and "Remedy Lane", two of the greatest discs "progressive rock" has ever seen.

5 stars Amazing
I'm pretty new to Pain Of Salvation. Only discovered them a few weeks ago, but I have to say. This album is amazing. It has been spinning in my MD for 2 weeks straight. Go buy it...Now. Go!...

3 stars Good, but disappointing
I love POS, but I don't love skipping over songs, which is what I find myself doing everytime I listen to this album. The good songs are great, and I love them, but there's just too much talking. I recommend Remedy Lane, The Perfect Element pt.1, or One Hour by the Concrete Lake over this by far, if you're looking to get into the band. Which is a brilliant idea, cause overall, they're awesome.

5 stars Great Concept, Great Music
This is yet another phenomenal concept piece by Swedish mastermind Daniel Gildenlow. With the ideas of 'what is life?' and 'what is our purpose here?' as a backbone, PoS have created a dynamic soundcape which will appeal any open musical mind. In my opinion, one of the things that make this album different from previous PoS albums is the keyboard work, especially because of the use of acoustic piano. With some touches of humor, dozens of sound clips and fake interviews, PoS takes you once again to a musical journey, creating different and contrasting musical moods along the way. Old PoS fans should grab this jewel right away, but if you're a newcomer, I suggest you start first with wither The Perfect Element, pt. 1 or Remedy Lane, which BTW I STILL cannot decide on which is better. What is certain, however, is that the latest album is not any worse than either. The concept of Be is very ambitious and thought provoking though, as opposed to the concepts of the aforementioned albums, which have a much more autobiographical touch. I highly recommend this new masterpiece!

After the success of PEACE SELLSàBUT WHO'S BUYING? in 1986 and SO FAR, SO GOOD, SO WHAT! in 1988, Megadeth was fast becoming one of thrash metal's leading outfits. However, the band's hard work was nearly derailed because of the continuous dismissals of band members and chronic substance abuse. Founding members Dave Mustaine (guitar/vocals) and Dave Ellefson (bass) changed their ways before ...

This album is a sort of summit conference of underground heavy music. Guitarists and vocalists Scott "Wino" Weinrich (the Obsessed, Saint Vitus, Spirit Caravan, the Hidden Hand) and Scott Kelly of Neurosis are grizzled veterans whose hoarse, guttural shouts and instantly recognizable, distorted guitar tones carry the authority of years of hard touring and introspective yet still crushing rock, while bassist Al Cisneros (Sleep, Om) and Melvins drummer Dale Crover shake the earth with their gigantic rhythms. The five tracks were laid down in three days, with some minor overdubs done shortly afterward, and they have the organic feel of jams transformed ...

"The Wicker Man" was nominated for the 2001 Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance. After playing to packed houses in 1999, the reformed and revamped Iron Maiden now satisfies their fans' hunger with a new collection of material. Vocalist Bruce Dickinson and guitarist Adrian Smith rejoin the fold, which is now a six member, three guitar sonic assault. Produced by Kevin Shirley (Aerosmith, The Black Crowes), BRAVE NEW WORLD is Maiden's finest album in 12 years. "The Wicker Man" is ...

Recorded in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey, New York, New York and Newport, Rhode Island between 1961 and 1964. Includes liner notes by David Wild. Digitally remastered by Allan Tucker (Foothill Digital, New York, New York). This isn't the first CD that has had the title The Very Best of John Coltrane, and one can safely assume that it won't be the last. The focus of this 74-minute collection is Coltrane's Impulse output -- specifically, modal post-bop that he recorded from 1961-1964. The disc doesn't get into the blistering atonal free jazz he embraced from 1965-1967, which is just as well because even though much of that material is brilliant, it isn't for everyone -- at least not novices and casual listeners who are exploring the saxophonist's work for the first time. And for those who need a dose of introductory Coltrane, this release generally favors the more essential recordings that he provided for Impulse. That includes "Acknowledgement," "Bessie's Blues," and "Crescent," as well as legendary encounters with Duke Ellington ("In a Sentimental Mood") and singer Johnny Hartman ("Lush Life"). Because Impulse didn't have access to Coltrane's famous Atlantic recordings of "My Favorite Things" and "Naima," they chose live versions from various Impulse releases -- both of which ...

Helvetia is back with this offering, an ode to the lo-fi world of cassette 4-track recording and a testament to this projects prolific nature. These 10 songs were realized after the completion of their sophomore album, The Acrobats, which was released last March to favorable critical reviews. Because of the bands D.I.Y ethics and lack of any real funding, they have decided to release these songs as-is to preserve the excitement of these sessions and to avoid stagnation. ...
