Into the Electric Castle is an epic prog rock opera from Dutch guitarist Arjen Lucassen. The sci-fi story centers around eight strangers brought together into a dimension of no space and no time. The characters in the story are played by varying lead singers, including former Marillion frontman Fish. The supporting cast is a who's who of proggers, which translates into superb musicianship. The story is standard sci-fi fare, but winds up being quite effective with the accompanying score. The massive coordination of such a large project is admirable, but to pull it off with such impressive results is stunning. There are some moments that work better than others, but in sum this an energetic, fun, and original recording. There is a plethora of styles incorporated here, including progressive rock, progressive metal, neo-prog, fusion, space rock, jazz, folk, and classical. This campy classic helped to spawn a devout cult following for Ayreon and the man behind the music, Arjen Lucassen. ~ Robert Taylor

Into The Electric Castle Music Into The Electric Castle Music Into The Electric Castle Music Review Average Rating: (4.5 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews Don't Be Fooled by the lyrics/concept The whole concept of this album is a bit tongue in cheek and uses obvious cliches like a knight fighting to find a holy grail in a way that might seem stupid if you haven't read the liner notes. However, the music in this is simultaneously very original, melodic, and engaging, and also you will not get tired of it after a couple spins or have the urge to skip any songs (except maybe 'Forever of the Stars'). If you are in to prog rock and haven't heard this great masterpiece, you are living under a rock. If you are not into prog rock, you will still find a lot to love about this album. Out of the Blue And into the electric castle? Why haven't I heard of Ayreon until recently? I've loved Fish since his Marillion days (they just aren't the same with H) and I bought this because he was guest singer. Now I've got two more Ayreon and can't decide which I like best. I hear something new with every listen. This is some great prog rock! Submitted by marc_warren (Minneapolis, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 2 found this helpful.
Wow I'd like to start off by saying this album is amazing. From start to finish, the first note to the last, just amazing.
A favorite song would be castle hall, I love it. (although once I listen to castle hall I had to listen to the rest of the album because its just that great :P.
People who like music should check this out, and a Prog lover, this is a must have CD.
I recommend checking out other Ayreon albums like The Human Equation. Submitted by freakishness102 (Portage, IN, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 2 found this helpful.
HOLY GOD!!! This album was excellent. I only started getting into Ayreon about a month or so ago and i rushed out and got all the CD's, starting with the new one 01011001. Like most i discovered Ayreon from hearing that James LaBrie was on one of the albums. But if you love Prog Rock, this is the best of all the Ayreon albums!! Arjen Lucassen is a genious. Into The Electric Castle
$14.35 Star One is the latest project from Arjen Anthony Lucassen (the man who almost single-handedly is Aryeon). Lucassen seems to like to assemble groups of musicians to record his works under various band names. Such is the case with this project. The group here has cut loose with their first project, entitled Space Metal. With a title like that, one might expect to hear a more hard-edged version of the space rock sounds of bands like Hawkwind. That is not, however, the case. Instead, Lucassen and his cohorts (Ed Warby, Sir Russel Allen, Damian Wilson, Dan Swano, Floor Jansen, and various guests) make ...

Into The Electric Castle
$10.59 As the sole major-label progressive-metal act, Dream Theater invariably set the standard as the flagship band of the genre. With the numerically themed OCTAVARIUM (including eight tracks signifying the band's eighth release) the shred-rock quintet continues to challenge themselves creatively. Opening track "The Root Of All Evil" picks up the thread that began with "The Glass Prison" (SIX DEGREES OF INNER TURBULENCE) and carried forward to "This Dying Soul" (TRAIN OF THOUGHT). Drummer Mike Portnoy's lyrics for these songs read like a set of deeply personal journal entries documenting his painful recovery experience, further disclosed by a footnote nod to Alcoholics Anonymous co-founder ...

He wanted to control the music that he listens to in his cars. During the creative process he came up with an innovative new idea. He started very boldly producing his albums with more than one or more mixes. "INSTRUMENTAL I" is a product of this innovation.Being the lover of a lot of music genres such as Hip Hop, Rock, Techno-Tribal and Acoustic as well as Cinematic sound tracks, Jack ended up with "Instrumental I & II" series.
