Product Description
In order to obtain the best possible audio reproduction, every effort was made to use the original source 2-channel master tapes which were then remastered according to the most up-to-date HDCD 24-bit remastering processes. All tracks have been digitally mastered using HDCD technology.2004's Greatest Hits is not only the first retrospective Neil Young has released since 1977's Decade, it's the first ever single-disc collection of his best-known songs. Greatest Hits offers the basic canon, with no frills and none of Young's trademark idiosyncracies, but ultimately that doesn't matter much, because Greatest Hits has all the songs that every Neil Young fan agrees are his biggest and best: "Down by the River," "Cinnamon Girl," "Helpless," "After the Gold Rush," "Southern Man," "Ohio," "The Needle and the Damage Done," "Old Man," "Heart of Gold," "Like a Hurricane." It works as an introduction for the uninitiated and as a concise summary for more casual fans. ...See Full Description

Entry Level Collection A good starter for those like me, who have never bought a Neil Young album before. The fan reactions were pretty obvious, as they are for Pink Floyd's "Echoes" etc. By Woody (Kiama, NSW, Australia)
Good, but a lot is missing! Don`t get me wrong, every song on this collection is first-rate material! But where is " The loner", " The old laughing lady", " Cortez the killer", " Tonight`s the night", " Walk on", " Long may you run", " Pocahontas" and a few more classic songs! You can`t make a Greatest hits wihout them, they are essential! By Heynow! (Sweden)
Amazing!! An amazing showcase of a truly underrated man. By Dozer (Sheffield, UK)
A collection of Neil Young classics! Greatest hits has all of Canada's use to be answer to the American Bob Dylan answer to folk rock music. Young as singer to songwriter he has some pretty good songs from the mid end of the sixties through the seventies. By CDJay (Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada)
greatest? I gotta tell ya, I don't even own this album although I got all the tunes on it and I've been Neil's fan for years and years, but it is IMPOSSIBLE to make a greatest hits package out of his career. By chubbsdarcy (La Tabatiere, Qc. Canada)
