Included in this DVD collection are the often outlandish video clips that have accompanied Gabrield's music over the years - 18 visually stunning videos that capture a truly remarkable career. Each video is preceded by audio commentary by producer Daniel Lanois. DVD features include 2 bonus clips, trailers, games, and 5.1 audio. Peter Gabriel has been a staunch innovator for the duration of his long career, and his videos have consistently been as daring and progressive as his music. Since moving on from his early tenure as frontman of Genesis--with whom he paved the way for new levels of theatricality within progressive rock--Gabriel has been a bold and influential voice in music. His quirky music is infused with a political sensibility that shows through in such songs as "Biko," about South African activist Stephen Biko, as well as through his activities working with groups such as Amnesty International. He won a Grammy for his scoring of Martin Scorcese's THE LAST TEMPTATION OF CHRIST, and is the founder of Real World, Inc., dedicated to fostering interaction between technology and multi-ethnic art. This collection of videos is a boon to Gabriel's fans, featuring a selection of his notable, seminal music videos, including his breakthrough "Sledgehammer," which used stop-action animation to create a video, the likes of which had never been seen before. Other videos include "Big Time," "Shock the Monkey," "Solsbury Hill," and "Father Son."

Carpet Crawlers 1999 I know for a fact that the reason why they did not include the video for The Carpet Crawlers 1999 is because it's a Genesis video and not a Peter Gabriel video and that is released on the new Genesis DVD "The Video Show." No Carpet Crawlers 1999 video? Genesis(as well as Peter Gabriel) put out a video called Carpet Crawlers 1999. I have no clue as to why that would not be on here. Submitted by pbviper6 (somewhere, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

$12.85 Genesis embraced the new medium of music videos quickly and effectively in the early 1980s, and this proved to be a crucial factor in helping them achieve their impressive popularity. Phil Collins, Tony Banks, and Mike Rutherford were the driving forces behind the band in this period, though former singer Peter Gabriel does make an appearance. Thirty-two videos are collected here, spanning more than two decades, and including both the group's biggest hits and its more obscure and experimental songs, with moods ranger from somber to exuberant. "No Son of Mine," "I Can't Dance," "Misunderstanding," ...
