| | Bill Engvall Decade Of Laughs CD Bill Engvall Discography of CDs
(1 Customer Review)
Though Texan comedian Bill Engvall gained a lot of attention in the early 2000s as part of the Blue Collar Comedy tour alongside Jeff Foxworthy, Ron White, and Larry the Cable Guy, he'd been making inroads in the comedy world for at least a decade prior. Like his aforementioned compatriots, Engvall combines a down-home, working-class perspective with sharp comic timing and a knack for skillfully framing everyday vignettes to achieve maximum laughs. Accordingly, A DECADE OF LAUGHS culls some of the funniest moments from 10 years' worth of Engvall albums, and finds the comedian expounding on everything from airplanes to marriage. To round things out and underscore the country-crossover aspect of Engvall's appeal, there are a few musical tracks, a couple of which feature guests Travis Tritt and John Michael Montgomery, whose vocal contributions are juxtaposed with snatches of Engvall's standup routines. | | Trick Pony R.I.D.E. CD (2005)
Decade Of Laughs music CDs
$7.29 R.I.D.E., the title of Trick Pony's third album, stands for "Rebellious Individuals Delivering Entertainment." Of course, in 2000's Nashville, rebelling could often mean playing straight-up old-school country while not taking oneself too seriously, two pursuits at which Trick Pony excels. A slice of good-time barroom country rock, R.I.D.E. manages to sound staunchly traditional while never sticking too close to a formula. Primary lead vocalist Heidi Newfield comes off like a bawdy mix of Tanya Tucker, Loretta Lynn, and Mae West, delivering the pure honky-tonk of "Ain't Wastin' Good Whiskey On You" and the tears-in-your-beer emotion of "When I Fall" with equal panache. It's guitarist Keith Burns, however, who delivers the record's most accessible song with "Sad City," which features a guest vocal from Hootie & The Blowfish's Darius Rucker. A mix of sawdust, sweat, and jumbotron-ready party spirit, this ...

| | Lee Ann Womack Call Me Crazy CD (2008) Digipak
Decade Of Laughs album
$9.49 After flirting with the pop mainstream with hit singles like "I Hope You Dance," Lee Ann Womack came decidedly back to country with 2005's THERE'S MORE WHERE THAT CAME FROM, an unapologetic stylistic throwback to the days when Patsy Cline and Kitty Wells ruled the country charts. While CALL ME CRAZY is nearly as traditionalist in its sound, and every bit as strong as a set of songs, it sounds perhaps a little more contemporary--more Loretta Lynn and Dolly Parton than Patsy and Kitty--and includes highlights like first single "Last Call" and a pair of duets with Keith Urban and George Strait. CALL ME CRAZY was released as a vinyl LP as well as a digital download and a standard CD: the once retro but now once again hot format is a perfect fit for the album's back-to-basics charms.

| | Ty Herndon Right About Now CD (2007)
Decade Of Laughs CD music
$14.59 Country singer Ty Herndon is back in the studio after a six-year break. Yeah, there was a Christmas record a couple of years back, but this is the first time the Meridian, Mississippi wonder has done an honest to goodness modern country record in nearly seven years. Herndon hit the charts and the road in a fury during the mid-'90s, and his demons hit back hard. Right: Herndon had a hellhound on his trail. Right About Now is one of those records that a man makes when he feels he has everything to prove. On the Jackson/Titan independent label (which is distributed by Fontana), Herndon lays out 11 new songs with help from songwriters like producer Darrell Brown, Keith Urban, Jess Cates, Beth Nielsen Chapman and others. The opener, written by Brown, Radney ...

| | Division Day Mean Way In CD (2004)
Decade Of Laughs album
$6.39 Ah, indie rock. Too often bands deicde they want to sound like a specific band - how many times have we heard a band that sounds exactly like Cursive, or Joy Division, or Gang of Four? Forunately, there are some bands that manage to get around the imitation-is-the-highest-form-of-flattery gimmick and make something a little more interesting. ...
