What do you get when you combine a producer/electronics whiz who's worked with Madonna, Bjork, and Seal, and a distinctive, charming female singer? Judging from the results of Frou Frou's debut album details, you get a duo capable of combining complex, arresting sonic vistas with very organic, intimate vocals to fine effect. From the dreamy, hypnotic quality of the opening track "Let Go" to the airy, Beth Orton-like "Hear Me Out," Guy Sigsworth consistently manages to find just the right setting for Imogen Heap's up-close vocal style. Whether Sigsworth is employing delicate ambient textures, gentle trip-hop beats, or near-techno dance arrangements, he's perfectly in tune with both the mood of the song and the breathy-but-confident delivery of Heap. There's an audible air of artistic simpatico between the two that runs throughout DETAILS and makes the whole thing work.

Yello made almost made techno-noir an early-'80s catchphrase, but their music was too adventurous, even for the hardcore techno aesthetes of that decade. CLARO QUE SI, the follow-up to the enigmatic SOLID PLEASURE, revels more in the dance floor, and begins the logical progression towards the arch-synthpop Yello would champion years later.
Many of the tracks here are arcane classics of the form: the weird and zippy "Daily Disco," probably best experienced in a club on Saturn; the mutant beatbox antics and shuffling, factory-bred electronics of "The Evening's Young," sporting one of Dieter Meier's most evocative, Grand Guignol vocals; and the backward loops of "The Lorry," Meier spitting out his words into a soup of metallic strings and tungsten-scored electronics. Just about as indispensable as SOLID PLEASURE, especially if your toes are set for tappin'.

'This song gives a small preview of the type of swagger my album contains!' exclaims Blaq $hea. While the instrumentals pound into the skull, the words and lyrical flow pierce the brain. Blaq $hea doesn't hold back or restrict his artistic vision. Uncompromising and cutting edge, Blaq $hea brand of hip-hop is sizzling. Where I'm from, says Blaq $hea, we use "Silly Wit It" like others use "Crazy" or "Buck". So the girls in the clubs get "Silly Wit It" (another banger from the CD). Blaq $hea embraced life as a rapper, as a youngster back in 1985; when inspiration struck in the form of "Eric B. For President" by Eric B. and Rakim (Paid In Full). He took to not only rapping but writing his own material. 2006 found the now-grown Blaq $hea coming into his own, playing packed shows, selling his CDs and collaborating with other Louisville, Kentucky artists. "Under Construction", a Summer 2008 release, was Blaq $hea's first full-length debut. Before that release, he had already distinguished himself with a series of mixtapes. 'The difference between those and "Under Construction", says Blaq $hea, is the level of freestyling. The mixtapes were more like all freestyles. This album featured one maybe one freestyle'. Blaq $hea was nominated by the Kentucky Music Pool as Rookie of the Year in 2007. In 2008 he was nominated for Kentucky's 1 Artist & Grinding On The Block (Louisville). Also, in 2009 Blaq $hea was nominated for Internet Hustler & Grinding On The Blaock (Lou). He is currently working with A&R Select, the world leading independent artist development firm, based out of Los Angeles, CA.
