Mastering error on "Shakedown Street" If you listen to track 9, "New Minglewood Blues" at the 3:46 mark, you will hear what amounts to a skip. This is a mastering error. You might want to wait for a second pressing, or start emailing Rhino for info on a replacement disc. This problem is apparently on ALL current copies of this box. Otherwise, the box is a real jem, and there's no better place to buy it than CDUniverse! Submitted by cdlord99 (Long Island, NY) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Beyond Description, well read on ! Shakedown St CD track #9 New New Minglewood Blues DEFECT at 3:48 minutes this MUST be rectified by RHINO / Warnen Bros Records.
Still listening to the rest of the box set, so far I'd have to say music is clear as a bell a big enprovement from the original cds. The bonus tracks make this all the more worth the $104.99 (the best price anywhere !) Submitted by Weve (New York) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Phase Two This box is what might be called phase 2 from this well known band. It starts with the Dead forming their own record company, and winds up with the "Arista Years". Many of the titles originally on Grateful Dead records were hard to find and had questionable sound quality. This box set fixes all that and gives you a nice slice of the middle years (Wake of the Flood, Mars Hotel, Blues for Alah), with lots of Bonus Tracks. Although the Arista records are very "studio" sounding for the Dead, there are some nice out takes and live extras, making these discs much better than the original releases. It was also a real treat to hear the inclusion of radio city music hall Oct. 26, 1980 track- I was at the concert, and do indeed remember the band working out a nice version of "let it grow".
The package has descriptive booklet notes and photos, and the sound quality is mostly good. CD universe has a good price and quick delivery.
