Hearts throbbing and eyes moist, Monchy & Alexandra offer up their fifth record, Hasta el Fin, to the loyal and ever growing pop-bachata-loving population. Ten years previously, the rural Dominican style was barely even being recorded. In 2004, Monchy & Alexandra's most recent record went not only directly to the top of Latin music charts, but onto Billboard's Top 200, showing not only progress for this group and its emotive, romantic harmonies, but for the genre as a whole. Monchy & Alexandra can lay claim to some of the genre's most expressive, tightest harmonies. Their performances are consistently spotless. Though the layers and layers of polish that have been heaped on and buffed to a high gloss may complicate making such judgments, the vocal pair comes across as very smooth and professional. The writing can often feel trite and thin, but no more or less than anything else as unapologetically candy-pop sweet as this pair is. Scoring a few hit singles, Hasta el Fin was welcomed with open arms, staying on the charts for two years after its original release. These tunes will probably continue to get airplay long after their freshness wears off. ~ Evan C. Gutierrez Monchy & Alexandra combine salsa & merengue music with American pop on HASTA EL FIN. Largely consisting of passionate love songs, this 2004 release features stunning vocal performances, tight musicianship, and resplendent production. As with many Latin albums, the percussion is the backbone of the ensemble and the driving force behind the music. For example, on "Esperando Estar Juntos" and "No Te Prometo Que Si (Tratare de Olvidar)," the congas, bongos, and guiro lay down a taut groove, while Monchy & Alexandra's legato voices soliloquize overtop. On HASTA EL FIN, Monchy & Alexandra do not offer up any of the wilder, more celebratory, forms of merengue and salsa (a la Tito Puente); instead, this is scaled-down romantic music in the bachata vein. Because the music is so intimate, HASTA EL FIN is better suited for a candle-lit dinner than a dance hall. Monchy & Alexandra Hasta El Fin Songs | 1. | Perdidos | $0.99 | |

Yes No

With fiddle, mandolin, guitar and piano, KGB creates subversive music, lulling the unwary with traditional New England contradance tunes, then jumping off into Balkan modalities, tango riffs and bluesy jigs. Claude slides from growling grooves to impossible high notes on the fiddle. Dave creates percussive energy and dazzling riffs on anything with strings. Julie explores the emotional range of the keyboard from majestic to down and dirty.Claude Ginsburg's violin melts, swings, growls, soars. Hasta El Fin
$12.69 Trak Wiz, aka David Berry, was born on August of 1978 and raised in Oxnard, California. He always had a passion for music due to influences from his father who was a night club Dj in the 80's, and his mother who was always playing records such as Earth, Wind, and Fire, Prince, Michael Jackson, etc. At age 12, David began to pursue his love for music. In the sixth grade he joined the school band as a percussionist (or drummer) with just a remo practice drum pad and dream. In high school David began to experiment with hip hop. He recorded his lyrics into a Sony tape deck rapping over his favorite instrumentals on cassette tapes. Being that he didn't have a microphone he used headphones from his walkman as a mic (didn't know you could do that, huh). After completing 7 years of formal music training, David at age 17 was faced with a decision most high schools seniors are faced with, what to do after graduation. At that time David didn't really take his musical talent that serious and enlisted in the U S Navy. It was there that he once again regained his ambition for music. David began writing poems which turned into rap lyrics. After he was discharged from the military, He met his former business partner Robert. Together they founded a recording studio in Oxnard, CA. It was then that Trak Wiz, began to dabble into producing. He would spend the next 4 years as a rapper/producer for the studio, working with various Oxnard City talents. As 2003 came to an end, so did his affiliation with the studio due to "creative differences" and financial hardship. He had given up music altogether at that time, and got 3 jobs were he worked an astonishing 90 hours a week trying to recoup his losses and mainly get his mind off all the failure he had incurred in music In mid 2004 Trak Wiz got a call from his friend Josh aka Kama, who was also a local Oxnard rapper about his future involvement with music. That call once again sparked Trak Wiz's drive to pursue music once again, but this time by himself. He would be the owner, rapper, and the producer for what is now Munky face entertainment which is now based out of Las Vegas, NV. Trak Wiz has a goal to be the most sought after producer for hip hop, R&B, or whatever else he's ...
