DVD features include deleted scenes, commentary, trailer, commercial, music video, cast interviews, outtakes with Juvenile and Slanted Eyezz, premiere footage, ransom tape, French & Spanish subtitles, widescreen, and stereo Dolby digital 5.1. Theatrical Release: TBA 2002/2003 Director Rich Murray puts the Philadelphia hip-hop scene on the cinematic map with SNIPES, an urban crime thriller that breathes fresh life into the genre. Erik (Sam Jones III) is an ambitious teenager who spends more time posting flyers for his favorite rapper, Prolifik (Nelly), than sitting in the classroom. When he and his best friend stumble across a dead body one night, they trigger a series of tragic events. It turns out Prolifik, as well as the master tapes for his new record, have been kidnapped by a gang of thugs who want Bobby Starr (Dean Winters), the ruthless president of Prolifik's label, to dish out a meaty ransom. If he doesn't, they promise to make sure Bobby's uncle and chief investor, the dangerous Johnny Marandino (Frank Vincent), knows just how carelessly Bobby has been spending his money. Through a misunderstanding, Erik becomes the target of Bobby Starr, as well as the kidnappers. Fearful for his own life, as well as his father's, Erik must find a way to get his hands on the master tapes, before Bobby Starr gets his hands on him. Murray's energizing film boasts credible performances (especially from rap superstar Nelly) and a pulsating hip-hop soundtrack.
This film screened in April 2002 in New York City as part of the Gen Art Film Festival. Snipes Reviews: "...[SNIPES] does a reasonably effective job of conveying the particulars of hip-hop culture....[Jones] is an appealing lead..."

Snipes Movie Review Average Rating: (4.5 out of 5 stars) Better than 99% of the ghetto-flix! This is not your average hood-movie, with a lot of disrespectful characters shooting at everything that looks at you the wrong way.
Not that I don't enjoy those type of movies BUT this right here is something special.
First of all the acting is for the most parts really good, especially SAM JONES III in his first filmed movie, (he also plays Pete Ross in TV-series SMALLVILLE), he really delivers with true intensity and holds the lead in a strong way for such newcomer.
Not as many rappers in the various roles as you'd often get with hood-movies, there's only 3 that I can recall with NELLY having the biggest role of them (but not the biggest role of course, as its held by SAM JONES III and DEAN WINTERS).
Yes DEAN WINTERS also deliver a solid lead as a pretty sleazy record executive, Winters also gets accompanied by fellow OZ-inmate JD WILLIAMS.
I don't want to give away the story because it's the kind with a lot of twists in it, but basically it's about a teenager rap-fan who gets caught up in a very dangerous situation.
That's all you need to know really, it's definitely worth both your time and your money.
I really like this movie!

Heather Hunter (Double H) Fans Check it Out I really enjoyed this movie. It is as someone already mentioned, a good suspense-actioner. It is a dark story, and kinda violent, but very well done. The real stars of the movie are Dean Winters (Law & Order SVU), Sam Jones III (who was remarkable in Zig Zag with Natasha Lyonne) and, especially, Zoe Saldana, who plays a tough, convincing heroine.
And, Heather Hunter is divine in a small role as Lucinda. Give this girl more acting opportunties! Submitted by Pete (Keokuk, IA, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Snipes film
$10.45 MY LIFE was nominated for a 1996 Grammy Award for Best R&B Album.
The immediate success of her triple-platinum debut WHAT'S THE 411? put Mary J. Blige in a singular class as a soul-hop visionary, and opened the door for other hip-hop-influenced R&B acts. Yet as the follow-up approached, the nature of her talent began to be questioned, and the strength of her debut became an obstacle.
If Blige heard all those rumors, she must've decided that musical revenge is the best payback of all. Thus, MY LIFE comes across as another ground-breaking venture, linking R&B's new and old schools, filling the airwaves with delightful harmonies AND hip-hop samples. When Blige connects with her music's roots, she doesn't pussy-foot around soul's perimeters searching for eligible influences--so "You Bring Me Joy," "My Life" ...
