Break In The Weather album
$64.29 This release includes a bonus DVD featuring live footage of Black Sabbath performing "Black Sabbath," "Paranoid," "Iron Man," and "Blue Suede Shoes" on the German television show THE BEAT CLUB.
Recorded between 1972 & 1978. Includes liner notes by Chris Welch and Brian Ives Tim Scanlin.
Although Ozzy Osbourne has had a huge cultural impact as both a solo artist and an unlikely TV star, his true legacy lies in the eight albums he recorded with Black Sabbath between 1970 and 1978. Though musical performers in various genres regularly conjured up images of evil (most notably the Rolling Stones on "Sympathy for the Devil"), no act ever actually sounded consistently evil until Sabbath's self-titled first record. The British quartet's sound arrived fully formed, with Tony Iommi's crushing guitar riffs, Geezer Butler's ominous bass lines, and Bill Ward's almost-tribal drumming perfectly ...
| | Small Faces Ogden's Nut Gone Flake CDs (1968) England; Deluxe Edition
Break In The Weather CD music
$33.25 The Small Faces present their four disc U.K. import reissue release OGDEN'S NUT GONE FLAKE.
Having begun their career as the archetypal Mod band, the Small Faces latterly embraced traces of flower-power's whimsy. Astute enough not to sacrifice their identity, the quartet retained a distinctive perspective, as evinced by a string of superb pop singles, including "Here Comes The Nice" and "Itchycoo Park." A sense of pop melody and adventurism culminated on this album which encompassed tongue-in-cheek fun ("Lazy Sunday") and passionate love songs ("Afterglow"). Steve Marriott's voice remains completely self-assured and the group's characteristic organ-based swell is often enhanced by P.P. Arnold's emotional backing vocals. Eccentric comedian Stanley Unwin narrates the concept suite "Happiness Stan," but the music is strong enough to withstand the novelty tag. OGDENS' NUT GONE FLAKE was the Small Faces' swan-song, at least until an ill-starred reunion, but it proved a fitting end to a golden era.
Having begun ...

$13.25 This CD initiated a logical series for the Document label. The company's goal of reissuing every single prewar recording has resulted in hundreds of valuable CDs being reissued. Inevitably, there were new discoveries of music after the fact, so this series consists of previously unreleased titles, alternate takes, and discoveries. Vol. 1 has selections from Blind Blake ("Early Morning Blues"), Blind Lemon Jefferson ("Lock Step Blues" and "Hangman's Blues"), George "Bullet" Williams, Bessie Tucker, the Memphis Jug Band, Willie Baker, Rev. D.C. Rice, Charlie Spand, ...
| | Lee 'Scratch' Perry Lee "Scratch" Perry On The Wire CD (2000)
Break In The Weather songs
$8.65 Lee "Scratch" Perry's personal brand of musical insanity has given many reggae artists (notably Bob Marley, Junior Murvin and Max Romeo) just the edge that they needed to set themselves apart from the pack; at his best, Perry seems to draw from powers that, if not divine, are at least extraterrestrial (and actually, he himself has made such claims explicitly). But Perry is more often at his best as a producer than as a performer -- he has no singing voice to speak of, and while his lyrics are sometimes amusing, they are just as frequently tiresome and childish. On the Wire was recorded around 1988 at the behest of Trojan Records, but as is frequently the case with Perry, weirdness and complication set in, and it took ten years for the tapes finally to be delivered. The result will be deemed worth the wait by Perry fans, but those unfamiliar with his work may find it more bewildering than compelling. The instrumental backing is credited to a handful of guitarists and one bass player, but someone also provided programmed rhythms and keyboards; the sound is mostly straightforward ...

| | Rezidudes Welcome To The Suck CD (2007)
Break In The Weather music CDs
$9.49 The Queers are, indubitably, the best punk band ever to come out of New Hampshire. This is true because the Rezidudes are pretty much the only other punk band to come out of New Hampshire, and based on their debut album, the Rezidudes kinda suck. They would no doubt counter that the suckiness of Welcome to the Suck is entirely intentional: hence the album title. (If that phrase sounds familiar, it's the mantra from Anthony Swofford's black-comic war memoir, Jarhead.) But Welcome to the Suck sucks in a way that's perhaps not the way in which the Rezidudes intended for it to suck: the album consists of 20 covers of old pop, soul, and metal songs, focusing primarily on cheap-shot hunks of AM radio cheese like John Denver's "Take Me Home, Country Roads" and "Leaving on a Jet Plane." (Yes, these clever boys the Rezidudes have figured out what no one else has ever before realized: John Denver's music can be made fun of! In other news, beer makes you drunk!) In the right hands, this sort of thing can result in some cheap, low-rent giggles. But here's the thing: the Rezidudes are not even ...
