| | Jay-Z Unfinished Business CD Jay-Z Discography of CDs
(23 Customer Reviews)
On a Friday evening in October 2004, the volatile union between two always-controversial artists, R. Kelly and Jay-Z, famously came to a crashing halt before thousands on stage in New York's Madison Square Garden. Kelly stormed off the stage, and accusations of pepper-spray attacks, guns in the audience, and superstar insecurity flew. Lawyers became involved, and the fight was on.
In happier times, merely days earlier, Kelly and Jay-Z released their second and (barring a reconciliation of epic proportions) final collaboration, UNFINISHED BUSINESS. While a clash of egos may have dissolved the duo, those enlarged egos are a result of titanic talents; when combined in a recording studio, R. Kelly's honeyed vocals perfectly balanced Jay-Z's hyper-confident rhymes. UNFINISHED BUSINESS is packed with infectious beats and a playful, joyful attitude. Most of the tracks have a surprisingly light, airy feel, and, even when the pair are taking aim at rivals, as on "Stop," there's a buoyant vibe to it. R. Kelly & Jay-Z made an appealing match, and when it worked, it truly glowed, as evidenced by this record.

To me, this album, consists of songs that never made the first album. A couple of remixes of songs from the first and thats it. Nothing new. Waste of effort, though I think they had to do something to pay off what the first album didn't give them, even though its a classic. All I can say is its a good CD, nothing special though they could have done better..... Submitted by kasonde1982 (London, England) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

I think Unfinished Business was rushed! The only song that truly "jumps out" at me on this album is (Feelin' you in Stereo). Like was said in other reviews, the chemistry just wasn't there! Also, the use of remixes didn't help either. The talent of these two guys kept the album from completely floppin' but they definitely stumbled with this joint! Who the hell is this "Tone" dude?!?! They should've have used Barry and/or Jomo Hankerson and Dame Dash as producers for this album. Either that or just take time to polish a solid album themselves. I heard songs from Best of both Worlds and I'll be ordering that as soon as possible. This is the solid example of how detrimental a rush to put something on store selves can be to an artist's album...no matter how good that artist may be. Submitted by H. Scott (Philadelphia, PA. BOBW 2 I wasn't feeling this album like the previous one. These two are easily the best at what they do but they don't combine well on this record. There's no chemistry between them. R Kelly is one of the best producers around and he only produced one of the tracks and that's probably the best one. I would definitely say this album should be bought because it is a piece of history but they can both do better. Submitted by claytes (Devon, England) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Unfinished Business
$11.99 What do you get when you combine one of the biggest names in hip-hop with the premier R&B singer of his generation? In the case of R. Kelly and Jay-Z, besides the obvious marketing opportunity, you get an intersection between the two genres that illuminates the strengths of both while simultaneously working on a new paradigm from the middle ground occupied by both artists. "Break up to Make up" isn't the old Stylistics R&B hit, but a new concoction full of Jay-Z's attitude and R. Kelly's vocal power; ...
| | Nelly Suit CD (2004)
Unfinished Business
$12.75 Nelly broke out in 2000 with his debut, COUNTRY GRAMMAR, and its infectious summer-anthem title track. Two years later, the St. Louis rapper dropped the multi-platinum NELLYVILLE and another summer anthem, "Hot in Herre," which balanced raw carnality with a deft pop hook. Nelly has always possessed this duality of unrefined energy and a melodic sensibility, and, in 2004, he decided to break the two aspects of his music into separate albums, SWEAT and SUIT.
On SUIT, he focuses on his more cultivated side with a constantly engaging, tightly produced record, filled with memorable singles. Just because there's a measure of manner pervading the record doesn't mean that Nelly's not having fun, as the disc ranges from the inspired balladry of "My Place" and the borderline-chopped-and-screwed haze of "Woodgrain and Leather wit a Hole." SUIT is still a party, and, as it's a Nelly party, there are tons of VIP guests crowding in. Most excitingly, both Snoop Dogg and Ronald Isley appear on the sly "She Don't Know My Name," and Nelly shows ...
| | Fabolous Real Talk CD (2004)
Unfinished Business
$10.49 On Fabolous's third studio record, REAL TALK, he claims that there is much more to him than his string of radio-friendly singles might indicate. That's not to say that the New York City rapper doesn't serve up simple, ready-for-radio moments in abundance, but even the first single, "Breathe," with its Supertramp sample and unusual path to a stunning hook, reveals an artist with much more depth.
"Don't Stop Won't Stop," which follows the striking intro, sports a sinister, Geto Boys-style backdrop and lyrics that embrace the familiar trappings ...
| | T I Urban Legend CD (2004)
Unfinished Business
$10.09 With TRAP MUZIK, Georgia rapper T.I. boldly established himself as a young rapper to watch and a sought-after guest artist. As if to cement his stardom, T.I. opens his third record, URBAN LEGEND, with one of the most famous declarations in the history of hip-hop, Run-DMC's "I'm the kiiiing," building the assured track ("Tha King") around a sleek "Hit It Run" sample. On that song, T.I. wanders around the rap iconography of the South, asserting himself the new leader and claiming that his ascendance came without ...
