| | Curse Of Blondie CD Blondie Discography of CDs
The DVD portion of this release features a 5.1 surround sound album mix, the "Good Boys" music video, band photos, lyrics, and weblinks.
This is a DualDisc, which contains a CD on one side of the disc and a DVD on the other.
Blondie's first new studio album since 1999's NO EXIT accentuates the finest aspects of their seminal sound. The opening numbers "Shakedown" and "Good Boys," for instance, both mine the group's dance classic "Rapture," the former song finding iconic lead singer Debbie Harry revisiting her NYC rap persona, and the latter highlighting a disco-era beat.
While songs such as the rocking "Undone" show contemporary New York bands such as the Strokes exactly how it's done, the quirkier, more experimental material such as "Magic (Asadoya Yunta)" and "Desire Brings Me Back" returns Blondie to its fascination with ephemeral pop culture and an avant-garde sensibility. It's in this mode that both the band and Harry (sounding at times like a fresh-faced Nico) seem most at home. Displaying versatility and confidence, THE CURSE OF BLONDIE is the sound of a mature band revisiting its roots, while staking its claim to the future.
This CD/DVD Audio dualdisc release is their eighth studio album recorded in 5.1 surround sound. Special features include a music video, band photos, lyrics, and weblinks.

Entertainment Weekly (4/9/04, p.86) - "The songwriting has their old ebullience and craftiness...and Debbie Harry's sexy impudence is in full effect. May the curse never wear off." - Rating: B+ Curse Of Blondie Review

| | Donald Fagen Morph The Cat CDs (2006) Special Edition with DVD
Curse Of Blondie songs
$19.65 Though MORPH isn't Fagen's first post-9/11outing (that would be Steely Dan's EVERYTHING MUST GO), it deals more explicitly with that world. For all the foreboding expressed in "Mary Shut the Garden Door," though, it takes a narrator as willfully perverse as Fagen to find himself turned on by the airport security officer giving him the once-over in "Security Joan." MORPH THE CAT is prime Fagen, existing in that singular Twilight Zone where Bob James plays the Leonard Cohen songbook and makes you love it.
This set is another contemporary classic from half of the duo Steely Dan. With Fagen's adventurous musical depth, uniquely layered lyrics, and entertaining subject matter (from a conversation withthe ghost of Ray Charles to a romantic liaison with an airport security guard named Joan), this set is the newest is the newest chapter chronicling the most sophisticated music in rock.
Donald Fagen may be one of the most subversive artists ...

| Bonnie Prince Billy - The Letting Go DVD (2006)
Curse Of Blondie album
$15.29 On one hand, Will Oldham (aka Bonnie "Prince" Billy) seems to have journeyed a long way from his recordings with Palace Music in the 1990s--which featured a ragged, lo-fi/indie take on backwoods, old-timey American folk--to the comparatively clean, thoughtful, and mature sound of 2006's THE LETTING GO. On the other hand, Oldham's course has remained true in its use of a spare, even stark, singer-songwriter mode to convey complex feelings and observations rendered through his creaky voice and literate, associative lyrics.

Curse Of Blondie music CDs
$13.15 A-ha's sixth studio CD (seventh if their greatest-hits collection is included) came seven years after their previous album, Memorial Beach, and in that time it seems that a-ha mellowed out. They do not seem to have concern about attracting the youth/dance market, but instead seem to be focusing in on how to make perfect middle-of-the-road pop songs with '90s technology. This is not a criticism, as it produces several fantastic songs, such as "Little Black Heart" and the wonderful "I Wish That I Cared." These, and many others, are full of catchy, beautiful melodies and Morten Harket's vocals are near perfect as usual -- his voice has not lowered one octave since their debut. The one problem with this CD is the relative sameness to some of the music. The tempos do not change a great deal, and by the end the songs seem to run together. More variety would have been beneficial. However, in terms of production, this is as close to perfect as a CD can get, and ...
| | Melvins Melvinmania: The Best Of The Atlantic Years 1993-1996 CD (2003) (Import) Argentina
Curse Of Blondie songs
$13.15 2003 U.K. import of 1993-'96 compilation from Melvin's recordings on Atlantic Records. Includes enhanced CD capabilities that shows three music video of the same era.
A protégé of Melvins mastermind Buzz Osbourne, Kurt Cobain managed to get his mentor's group signed to a major label in 1993, a remarkable feat even for such a popular artist, considering the imposing, crushingly heavy nature of the music at hand. Rather than using this significant step to lean in a more accessible direction, the Melvins used their new deal to push the boundaries of metal-tinged weirdness even further. The band released three albums on Atlantic, starting with HOUDINI and continuing through STONER WITCH and STAG, after which they were unceremoniously (and not surprisingly) dropped. This collection cherry-picks tracks from the aforementioned outings, proceeding in chronological order from the stomping "Hooch" and the driving "Honey Bucket" to the raucous "Sweet Willy Rollbar" and the shockingly gentle ...
