Parchman Farm's debut E.P. is a Blue Cheer/Black Sabbath stoner rock blunt rod to the skull. A filthy band with a filthy sound, Parchman Farm wrap their jean-clad legs around a fleshy column of stoner rock sludge and hump it all night long, and then a li

Parchman Farm
$10.25 This remastered edition of UFO's 1975 album FORCE IT contains "Let It Roll," "Mother Mary," Shoot Shoot," and more. If UFO has one addition to rock's pantheon of classic albums, this is it. FORCE IT builds on its predecessor, PHENOMENON, by taking the band further away from their fuzzier, space-rocking early records. Guitarist Michael Schenker's playing has a new toughness and clarity that perfectly frames the more melodic, hook-oriented songwriting he developed in tandem with singer Phil Mogg. With crisp rhythms and riffs that gallop squarely on the beat, FORCE IT provides the perfect snapshot for when post-Zeppelin/glam hard rock morphed into the New Wave of British Heavy Metal. A 2008 ...
| | High Tide Sea Shanties CD (1969)
Parchman Farm
$19.79 German reissue of their 1969 album originally released on Liberty Records. Repertoire.
Personnel: Tony Hill (guitar); Simon House (violin); Roger Hadden (drums). Liner Note Author: Mark Brennan . Recording information: 03/??/1969-07/08/1969. On this lost would-be-classic debut by English proto-prog-metal outfit High Tide, Tony Hill's vocals are a fulcrum between Ozzy Osbourne and Jim Morrison. Accordingly, the songs on SEA SHANTIES fold together Deep Purple-worthy blues-doom and more lightweight psychedelia, and even include hefty helpings of violin. But there ...

| | Starz Violation CD (1977) Bonus Tracks; Remastered
Parchman Farm
$10.45 Starz: Peter Sweval (bass guitar); Michael Lee Smith, Richie Ranno, Joe X. Dube, Brendan Harkin. Personnel: Michael Lee Smith (vocals); Richie Ranno, Brendan Harkin (guitar); Joe X. Dube (drums). Liner Note Authors: Jeff Rougvie; Pat Egan. Recording information: A&R Studios, New York, NY; Record Plant Recording Studios, New York, NY. Starz' sophomore album, Violation, was quite similar to its predecessor. Jack Douglas was still the band's producer, and Starz continued to favor the type of slick, commercial hard rock that would be called pop-metal in the '80s and early '90s. This 1977 LP didn't establish Starz as major players in the pop-metal field; the New Yorkers did have a small following, although not a huge one. Nonetheless, this is ...
| | Witchcraft Firewood CD (2005)
Parchman Farm
$13.79 Witchcraft (Hard Rock): Magnus Pelander (vocals, guitar); John Hoyles (guitar); Ola Henriksson (bass guitar); Jonas Arnesen (drums). Personnel: Magnus Pelander (vocals, guitar). Recording information: New Rising Studios (03/08/2005-03/22/2005). Photographer: Anna Ledin. Ask a group of doom metal or stoner rock enthusiasts what band was the blueprint for the doom/stoner field, and the vast majority will -- without hesitation -- say Black Sabbath. So when a band is as Sabbath-influenced as Witchcraft, it is understandable that some headbangers would describe them as a doom band. But Witchcraft isn't ...
| | State Of The Union CD (1991)
Parchman Farm
$9.69 Liner Note Author: Mark Andersen. Unknown Contributor Role: Jenny Toomey. This is one of several influential compilations produced by Dischord Records documenting the Washington D.C. punk scene. In 1989, the scene was lively and very political, and though few of the bands featured were still together in the year 2000, several members went on to form other important groups. The record comes with a booklet, which is essential, explaining its theme and expanding upon it. The cover shot pretty much sums up what the record is about. There's a group of homeless men freezing in the snow with the U.S. capitol in the background and the words State ...
| | Robert Bradley's Blackwater Surprise CD (1996)
Parchman Farm

Producers: Michael Nehra, Andrew Nehra, Kid Rock. Recorded at White Room Studios, Detroit, Michigan. Personnel: Robert Bradley (vocals, piano, organ, Wurlitzer organ); Michael Nehra (guitar, acoustic guitar, background vocals); Andrew Nehra (acoustic guitar, electric guitar, piano, percussion, background vocals); Johnny Evans (saxophone); Ed Hawrysch (organ, Wurlitzer organ); Jimmy Bones (organ); Jeff Fowlkes (drums, percussion, background vocals). Audio Mixer: Michael Nehra. Recording information: White Room Studios, Detroit MI. Photographer: Ian Gittler. Fifty-year-old Robert Bradley and his versatile young band Blackwater Surprise have produced the first modern blues classic of the new millennium with Time to Discover. The band have mastered several different well-tread blues styles, but Bradley's vocals and the group's empathetic support breathe a refreshing originality into each song. Take "Ultimate Sacrifice," for example. What begins as a fairly straightforward ballad turns into a prayer of immense power in the bridge and scattered vocals that follow. And the uptempo songs, such as "Ride," are just as strong as many of the stellar slower numbers. Guitarist Michael Nehra and bassist brother Andrew produced the album with Bradley's vocals high in the mix, but they didn't sacrifice the raw intensity of the music, so both traditionalists and novice blues fans should enjoy the sound. After the minor success of his 1996 debut, it's indeed time for the world to discover Robert Bradley. Guest vocals by the band's buddy Kid Rock can't hurt. ~ Mark Morgenstein Robert Bradley was a Detroit street singer for years before he was convinced to enter the studio by a group of young alternative rockers. The resulting ...
