This set includes a live DVD of the concert plus a bonus CD. Included are 2 never before released new songs from her upcoming album, interviews with performers, backstage footage, photo gallery with new live photos, 5.1 Surround Sound and stereo audio, and 16:9 widescreen letterbox. The concert was filmed in Hi-Def in 2004 live in Brooklyn, NY. The set is available in amaray or jewel case packaging. Best remembered as the spiky-haired lead singer of 1980s new-wave band Til Tuesday, Aimee Mann went on to toil in obscurity until her solo work on the soundtrack to P.T. Anderson's 1999 film MAGNOLIA finally led her to breakthrough success. Mann's achingly lovely vocals and criminally underrated songwriting skills are on fine display in this June 2004 concert, which was recorded at St. Ann's Warehouse in Brooklyn, New York. In addition to backstage interviews and behind-the-scenes footage, Mann's performance includes live renditions of pop gems such as "4th of July," "Stupid Thing," "Long Shot," "Amateur," "Save Me," and many more. Aimee Mann - Live At The St. Ann's Warehouse Video Aimee Mann - Live At The St. Ann's Warehouse Movie Review Yes to CD, No to future buying at CD Universe The CD/DVD album is very good and a valuable if not absolutely necessary addition to those who already like Aimee Mann and have a collection of her 5 solo CDs, or for those initiates who would like a "sampler." Some particularly good re-workings of tunes from her first 2 CDs, which are among the best albums of the 1990's. She is a top-notch songwriter and has a wonderful voice that she has learned how to use well.
As for CD Universe, their service is excellent but their shipping charges are, at the least, irksome. They charged me an extra $1 because this was a two-item set even though it's the exact size as a single CD and costs no more to ship. Also, I made the mistake of pre-ordering a few CDs with different release dates and instead of gathering all or some of them together, CD Universe insists on sending them separately and charging $3.99 for each shipment. Whatever price advantage they might have had is lost and, indeed, had I not canceled the remainder of my order, I would have paid $16 shipping for just 4 CDs (oh no, I mean FIVE CDs for shipping purposes due to this "double" Aimee Mann). I know that they are much smaller than Amazon and kind of a start up, and I like to support these new ventures, but, for my thinner wallet, I just cannot afford to do it here. Aimee Mann - Live At The St. Ann's Warehouse film
$17.09 By 1996, guitar solo-heavy instrumental albums were looked down upon by the majority of rock fans -- as many had moved on to focusing on artists who put the importance of songwriting over shredding. However, you have to give Tony MacAlpine credit -- he didn't stray too far from his prior musical path on his solo release that year, Violent Machine. Featuring plenty of MacAlpine's six-string heroics, Violent Machine easily could have been released in 1989, and probably would have done battle with Flying in a Blue Dream in Guitar World magazine's year-end poll -- as evidenced by such selections as the album-opening title track, plus "Shoe Shine Cyber Boy" and "Mr. Destructive." But unlike many of the other similarly styled guitarists that MacAlpine has been compared to over the years, he is also a highly skilled pianist, and listeners get a glimpse of this on "Chopin Etude #12 Opus 10." And there are also a few other non-metal detours along the way, including the jazzy melodicism of "Sophisticated Domination," as well as the almost new age-ish "Carolina Blue." With Violent Machine, MacAlpine proved once and for all that he was ...

Aimee Mann - Live At The St. Ann's Warehouse review
$8.55 There's a breed of (post-1980s) bands with the same degree of grand rock experimentalism as Pink Floyd and Yes, who simultaneously adhere to the concept of concise songwriting. Porcupine Tree is one such band--their sound is a balance of lush ambient textures, charming vocal harmonies, rock & roll directness, and acoustically- and electronically-generated sounds. Their debut IN ABSENTIA shows all these elements in place, rich with the likely possibility of them becoming a contemporary counterpart to Pink Floyd.
Hailed by Billboard as 'cinematic...simple gorgeous', Porcupine Tree are unquestionably one of the UK's most inspired and inventive rock groups. In Absentia is their eagerly anticipated Lava Records debut. Digipak. 2002.
Recorded at Avatar Studio, New York, New York between March & April 2002.

| | Natalie Imbruglia Glorious-The Singles 1997-2007 Special Edition CDs (2007) (Import) Bonus DVD; United Kingdom
Aimee Mann - Live At The St. Ann's Warehouse film
$22.35 What was impressive about the Natalie Imbruglia album Glorious: The Singles 1997-2007 was that Imbruglia had a writing or co-writing credit on 13 of the 14 tracks, the only one not penned by her being the one that started it all, the classic "Torn." Starting at the most unlikely source as an actress on the daytime TV soap opera Neighbours (although it had produced singing stars a decade earlier with Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan), Imbruglia had carved out a singing career with a series of pop/rock singles with superb melodies, although never managing to top the exquisiteness of the single "Torn." So after three successful albums, Left of the Middle, White Lilies Island, and the number one Counting Down the Days, her record company, BMG, released this greatest-hits compilation to sum up her career to date and also ...
