Following on from the release of their stunning EP Beat of Your Drum, Sydney siders 78 Saab bring us the album - Crossed Lines. The band have not only delivered on the promise of their debut (Picture A Hum, Can't Hear A Sound) but surpassed it. The result of two years of writing, re-writing, endless demos, and several different album sessions with producer Tim Whitten, Crossed Lines combines great songwriting with familiar touchstones (Neil Young, REM, The Church, Died Pretty) and comes from a band who have found their own distinctive sound and place in the world. | | U2 No Line On The Horizon CD (2009)
Crossed Lines songs
$10.49 There's no shortage of legendary producers in line to work with music world titans U2; when work with Rick Rubin broke off, Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois stepped in. The resulting NO LINE ON THE HORIZON, 2009's offering from the Irish rockers, continues in the grand U2 tradition, as soaring pop anthems like opening single "Get on Your Boots" pair with experimental melanges like "Tripoli," on a striking album featuring touches of all the albums come before, yet hinting at new worlds for Bono to conquer.
After spending the 1990s experimenting with electronic music and returning to arena-ready rock during the first few years of the 21st century, U2 stakes out territory somewhere between those two points on 2009's NO LINE ON THE HORIZON. Enlisting its go-to production trio of Brian Eno, Daniel Lanois, and Steve Lillywhite, the Irish quartet seems intent on crafting a quirkier companion piece ...

Crossed Lines CD music
$6.09 This 1998 reissue contains 5 bonus tracks (including the previously
unreleased "White Christmas") not included on the original release.
John Denver's music always had a warm, home-spun quality to it, so it isn't surprising that his 1975 holiday effort, Rocky Mountain Christmas, is a wonderfully low-key and friendly Christmas album. Divided between classic carols and new numbers, such as the fine "Aspenglow" and "Christmas for Cowboys," the album is an appealing, pretty record, perfect ...

| | Iron Horse Black & Bluegrass: A Tribute To Ozzy Osbourne CD (2004)
Crossed Lines album
$15.19 Audio Mixer: Dennis Clifton.
Recording information: Desert Rose Studio.
Black & Bluegrass: A Tribute to Ozzy Osbourne is the kind of record that should probably never be made. It is a cynical pairing of two completely divergent streams of culture that is obviously only in existence to bilk people out of their money. Still, that being said it is actually a pretty good record. Bluegrass is a surprisingly elastic form of music that can easily transform a heavy metal anthem like "Crazy Train" into ...
| | Guru Guru In The Guru Lounge CD (2006)
Crossed Lines CD music
$14.59 In the Guru Lounge is a brand-spanking new studio album by Guru Guru, and what a strange creature it is. It features 14 new tracks with a lineup that includes drummer Mani Neumeier, guitarist and reedist Roland Schaeffer, Luigi Archetti on guitar, and bassist Peter Kühmstedt. Everybody in this band sings. There are also a number of guest appearances here, including Hans Reffert on guitar and lap steel, and a pair of vocalists: Lisa Kraus sings on "Cool Baby" and "At the Guru Lounge," and Etsuko Watanabe sings on "Tokyo Girl" (the strange and beautiful opening track) and "Bo Altai." Here elements of funk, slide guitar blues, space rock, lounge music, warped torch songs, and (of course) spaced-out Krautrock weave and wend, move and swirl around the mix. These folks take their camp seriously and it feels like it. This is nearly indescribable music, which is indeed a compliment. Song structures juxtapose against a serious need to improvise and stretch -- give a listen to "Bo Altai" and "Pow Wow" during the album's first half, where free jazz, funk, Native American-styled chant, and Delta blues beat each other into submission and ...

Crossed Lines songs
$18.89 Lyrics and liner notes translated from the Portuguese by Wendy Bazilian.
One of the embodiments of Brazil's crash into the counter-culture of the '60s, Mutantes (Mutants) weren't just a great pop-rock group, they were boundary-smashing revolutionaries. As part of that country's late-'60s Tropicalismo movement, the trio helped modernize distinctly Brazilian sounds, scuzzying the samba rhythms of Carnaval with fuzzed-up electric guitars, and blowing a weird avant-garde breeze into the smooth hair of conservative bossa nova culture. Rita Lee and the Baptista brothers (Arnaldo and Sergio) made music wholly reminiscent of REVOLVER-era Beatles, mixing in Stockhausian sonic collages, Zappa's sense ...
