The Dire Straits frontman's 1996 live release features a combination of Straits' hits & material from his 'Golden Heart album that was released in the same year. NTSC/Region 0. Universal. 2004. Night In London Music Review Average Rating: (4 out of 5 stars) A Musical Tour de Force While a recent release, "A Night In London" dates back to 1996, when Knopfler was just kicking off his solo career with the "Golden Heart" album. As you'll see from the set list, most of the material is from that album (which I consider to be a modern masterpiece), with a scattering of older material. He's joined by a variety of guests including Jools Holland, pedal steel player Paul Franklin, and slide guitar master Sonny Landreth as well as four Irish musicians and a four piece string quartet. The live show was shot in a television studio with a small audience, but contains enough musical fireworks to fully satisfy any fan. I'm normally not a big fan of concert movies, but I've watched this DVD at least six times since receiving it as a gift less than a month ago! The three tracks featuring Sonny Landreth ('Cannibals,' 'Je Suis Desole' and the finale, 'Gravy Train') are worth the cost of this package by themselves. Any fan of Knopfler's, and any fan of well played music should own this DVD. Submitted by ratkin (Queensbury, NY, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 1 found this helpful.

Night In London music CDs
$10.49 Henry Paul was a rhythm guitarist and vocalist for the Outlaws. He left the group in 1977 after its third album. He formed the Henry Paul Band in 1978 and signed to Atlantic later that year. Grey Ghost is the band's debut, and it is drenched in Southern rock influences as well as those of '70s West Coast bands such as the Eagles. The opening cut, "So Long," combines folk, country-rock, and the over the top guitar punch of bands like Lynyrd Skynyrd and the Allman Brothers, while "Crossfire" sounds like the Joe Walsh-era Eagles jamming with the Pure Prairie League and "Foolin'" has the Byrds' signature all over it. But to say that Paul and his band merely copied what was out there wouldn't be fair. Grey Ghost is a fine album; the songcraft is tight and crisp, ...

Night In London album
$28.45 The stage has always been a place where CARON ¨ comes-alive ¨. A place he knows much to well, having spent the better part of the last 25 years. A place where music, that was first recorded under confined circumstances, got a chance to breathe and come to life. An opportunity to let go! To perform! To take the works further than they've ever gone before. ALAIN CARON ¨LIVE¨ CABARET DE MONTREAL definitely delivers on all counts. This double CD is beautifully recorded and mixed. 110 minutes of state of the art sound quality combined with double-barrel performances. You truly have the impression of being there! The music fully delves into CARON`s new found appreciation for Electronica. Incorporating slick loops, clubby, vibe-y textures to human-sense and phenomenal performances that will enthrall, elevate, and send everyone into a neurological music euphoria. Here he has finally found the right balance between sampling and live musicians, between performance and pure emotion, between traditional jazz and urban. CARON seeks to initiate the public at large to this fun new refreshing point of view, he likes to call. ¨ELECTRO-FUSION-JAZZ¨ Alain Caron certainly has not lost his touch; he's as virtuosic, technically magical, and passionate about his music as ever. But this latest release is as much a showcase for CARON the writer and orchestrator as it is CARON the player. This double CD, in large part, features material from his last studio offering ¨5¨ released in 2003. But it also features such classics like¨ Slam the Clown ¨ taken from Rhythm & Jazz. ¨ D-Code ¨ taken from the album PLAY and ¨ Baby Step ¨, from the album Call Me AL. As both the artist and architect, CARON manages to give his band a solid foundation for them to expand on. He ...
