This legendary MTV concert is now available on video. The original lineup minus Tommy Caldwell who died the year before, performs their biggest hits in this 1981 concert. Extras include a documentary with interviews by Travis Tritt, Charlie Daniels, and band members, and 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround Sound. The Marshall Tucker Band, a top-selling country-rock band during the 1970s, performed this concert for MTV in 1981. Songs include "Heard It in a Love Song," "Fire On the Mountain," "Can't You See," "Ramblin'," "Searchin' For A Rainbow," "It Takes Time," "Take the Highway," "Rumors Are Raging," "Something's Missing in My Life," "Tell the Blues to Take Off the Night," "Bob Away My Blues," "This Ol' Cowboy," "Blue Ridge Mountain Sky," "Special Someone," and "The Time Has Come." Influential songwriter Toy Caldwell and the original line-up (except the late Tommy Caldwell) performed in this show.

I've had this DVD about a week and have watched it at least 5 times...Toy Caldwell was one SWEET guitar player & George McCorkel is also very good. This is a must for a real MTB fan...its the only DVD of them...

 Undiscovered treasure
I don't know how long this has been available, but I would have got it the day it was released, had I known. This is as good of concert footage as you will find for an '81 recording. I guess because it was MTV produced. Although, I don't recall ever seeing any of this footage on MTV at that time. I guess it wasn't "hip" enough for them to air very frequently, if at all. If you're a southern rock fan, you should get this. Great stuff!

A fantastic DVD - Better than expected!
I had never seen Marshall Tucker Band performing before I got this DVD, and yes,it was a very nice surprise. Very good quality on sound and pictures. I've got a lot of MTB's CDs and was looking forward to this DVD. My best buy up to date!

My wife and me got married the first day of MTV. 8/1/81. I was 25. We had to pospone our honeymoon for a couple of days because we had tickets for this concert. This was a great concert and we had seats in the 13th row. so of cause I paused the picture and seen my wife and me. What a strange feeling looking at that. Thankyou for putting this memory on dvd. I have seen over a hundred concerts in my life. Wish they were all on dvd. Great job!

This DVD really took me back. One of my favorite bands, I hadn't seen the Tucker boys, since Toy Caldwell left the band. While this isn't the best MTB performance I've seen, it sure is close. Took me back to the day. Excellent quality audio and video.

Live on Long Island: 04-18-80 is a significant addition to the Marshall Tucker Band catalog for two reasons: first, the two-CD set marks the only full-length concert by the classic lineup to be released on CD. Second, and more importantly, it was the last concert played by this original lineup. Just ten days after they packed up their gear and left the stage of the Nassau Coliseum (for some reason, the venue is never mentioned in the package), bassist Tommy Caldwell was killed in a car accident, effectively ending the band's strong run.
