Alone In The Dark: Music From And Inspired By Alone In The Dark Soundtrack CD music A GROUNDBREAKING MUSICAL RESOURCE FOR HOSPICES, HOSPITALS, NURSES, CHAPLAINS, MUSIC OR RECREATIONAL THERAPISTS On Spirit Wings, Bev Foster's soothing voice and delicate touch on the piano, coupled with the warm sensitive sounds of James Isaacs' oboe and english horn provide a sweet, flowing ribbon of hope and beauty. The music combines traditional with more contemporary selections to create an inspirational accompaniment for life's journey. The inspiration for Room 217 has come from the loss of two very special people in Bev's life, her dad and her grandmother. Music played an important role in her relationship with both of them through the years. During the last months of their lives, music became a source of connection, comfort and communication between them. When Bev and her family were at a loss for words or when she was just by their bedside holding them, music bridged time and eternity and soothed the heartache each felt. Her father died in Room 217 at the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital, just north of Toronto, Ontario Canada. Bev believes music reassured him and lessened the fear of death. Nanny Gross died one year later at the age of 95. Spirit Wings rocked her to sleep. Bev Foster has taught music privately and in the school system for 25 years. She has served as executive director of the Ontario Vocal Festival and accompanist for the Orpheus Choir of Toronto. She was also recently nominated for a Shai Award for Best Inspirational Album for her solo album, Trustpoints. Spirit Wings was nominated for Best Instrumental album at the 2005 Canadian Covenant Awards. In March 2006, she was recognized nationally at the Leading Woman Awards in the arts, culture and sports category. Bev is the president of Strongheart Inc. , the independent label company for Room 217. She is married to Rob and they have four children. Room 217 has quickly gained national acclaim. Canadian Living magazine calls Room 217 "a new generation of palliative music designed to access memories, help surface emotions and connect families in times of duress." Foster is traveling the continent with her performance/presentation Music for Life's Journey. Songs are paced to match people's breathing. The music is gentle, never bumpy or angular. Foster uses familiar tunes mostly from broadway to pop, from hymns to classical, from folk to original.

Review By DEREK DOARN- Amazings, March 26 2004 This work is a fresh combination of influences coming from Pop, Synth-Pop, Jazz, Fusion and New Instrumental Music. Elements from all these trends converge into a waterfall of creative vitality. The result is a precious collection of pieces with an emotive air, sometimes happy, sometimes melancholy, not lacking in some occasions a suggestive aura of mystery. A music brimming with dynamism, it injects vitality into the listener. Though there are quiet parts, much of the music has a lively rhythm. The melodies are luminous, optimistic, direct. The rhythms are lively, warm, sensual. Although the stylistic spectrum involved is quite wide, the musical personality of the author throughout the entire album can be clearly appreciated. The CD shows an artist whose music possesses an unusual personality, capable of attracting the attention of the listener at once. An intense creative task can be appreciated throughout the entire album, as well as in the orchestrations. In short, this is an excellent work, which no doubt will contribute to increasing the reputation of Fletch Towell. Bio Born in New Jersey in 1959, he began playing piano age 7 , by age 11, he had is first paying public performance at a K-Mart grand opening with a childhood band. Though his teen years, he developed exceptional blue/rock vocals and keyboard skills. Moving to Boston in the late 70s, he began studies Berklee in Jazz composition and arranging. He played number of different bands, along solo gigs in the back bay music scene until the mid 80s. His career ventured in business, and he spent the 80s at Cornell University, where he completed BS and Masters degrees. Struck by a desire to dramatically expand his musical breadth, intrigued by the evolution of technology/music integration, and fascinated with the advancements in sampling synthesizers, Fletch redirected his musical efforts to the digital domain. In the early 90s, He purchased his first sampling-midi capable keyboard, along with PC based sequencing and recording software. Since then he has been heavily engaged in creating music , both his own and as a producer of upcoming artists, running a studio, and pushing the bounds.
