Cyber Trance 2nd Chapter
$15.24 Functioning as something of a replacement for the 2001 collection Their Greatest Hits: The Record, The Ultimate Bee Gees covers much of the same ground as that double-disc set, albeit in not quite so linear a fashion. The Record marched through its 40 tracks chronologically, opening with the stately baroque Beatlesque pop of the '60s and then winding through the '70s, whereas ...
| | Isaac Hayes Shaft (Deluxe Edition) CD (1971) Bonus Track; Remastered; Deluxe Edition
Cyber Trance 2nd Chapter
$9.58 Despite its codification into our collective pop culture consciousness, Isaac Hayes' "Theme From Shaft" is a highly original composition. It's been remade by Hayes himself for the remade Shaft film, and appropriately kicks off this collection of tunes from the movie by some of R&B's New Jacks.
A diverse selection of artists encompass the collection, from lascivious soul stirrer R. Kelly to the rugged Latin hip-hop of Fulanito, along with many other noteworthy diversions that represent the many flavors of contemporary urban ...

| | Loren Stillman How Sweet It Is CD (2003) (Import) Germany
Cyber Trance 2nd Chapter
$24.25 Just 21 at the time of this release, altoist Loren Stillman clearly has the potential to become a major name in jazz. His style, reminiscent at times of Lee Konitz, is lyrical, searching, and swinging. He and his quartet react quickly to each other, playing both inside and outside of the chord changes. Stillman contributed all eight songs and his music is fresh and original, swinging but never predictable. The other musicians (notably pianist Russ Lossing) are excellent, but this well-paced set is largely Stillman's show, and a very impressive debut. ~ Scott Yanow
'Are you afraid that there is no future in jazz? After listening to this fabulous album I am sure you'll feel more relaxed. Now you know that jazz has a bright future with a lot of new talents deserving wider recognition. Loren Stillman is definitively one of these talents. It's no coincidence [what] Joe Lovano says about him.'- Frank Nagel-Heyer, Hamburg, 2003.'His future, in my opinion, is so bright it's almost blinding. If he follows that light through, we will benefit from his creative exploration along with him. I love this beautiful world of music we live in. It has given us another wondrous gift: Loren Stillman.'- Joe Lovano, from 'Cosmos' CD Loren Stillman began playing the saxophone at the age of 7. As a youth showing a great natural ability on the instrument, he was encouraged by his teacher, Gerry Mohen, and family to attend the New England Music Camp at age 13. Here he studied with Dan Goble, Ph.D., from the University of Texas at Austin, and won the camp concerto competition playing Glazunov's 'Concerto for Saxophone and Orchestra' with a professional string orchestra. During the mid-1990s, he studied with Ted Nash, a saxophonist with the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra, while continuing instruction with Dan Goble. By 1996, his proficiency on the saxophone led him to seek advanced instruction with David Liebman, a noted soprano saxophonist, and with Lee Konitz, one of the great alto saxophonists of today.Loren received a full artistic merit scholarship to attend Manhattan School of Music where he studied with Dick Oatts, alto sax player with the late Carnegie Hall Jazz Orchestra, and Garry Dial, pianist and composer. After a two-year hiatus from school, a period of time he used to compose, teach, and record, Loren has returned to complete ...
