| | Toad Behind The Wheels CD Toad Discography of CDs
Sitting contentedly tucked into its mountain strongholds, Switzerland is the least likely place to find rebellion, its polite and law-abiding citizenry rarely raring to play rock & roll. Until Toad came along, that is. Formed in 1969, the band signed to EMI, with its debut album, B.U.F.O., overseen by Deep Purple's engineer, Martin Birch. And the British hard rock connection didn't end there, as Rainbow's Tommy Eyre would also sit in on keyboards. But is this compilation really unadulterated Toad? One suspects not, although the sparse credits do all in their power to pump further smoke on its water. The first six tracks were recorded in L.A., presumably predating singer/guitarist Vittorio Vergeat's arrival in Switzerland. "Tonight" and "Music" were laid down in London, with Eyre, bassist John Giblin, and drummer Mel Gaynor, one assumes after Vergeat left for lower altitudes. A mere six numbers were thus recorded in Europe with the proper amphibious unit, which certainly explains the incredible diversity of this set's sound, ranging from kickass rock & roll to R&B-fired rave-ups, dreamy pop/rock, downbeat blues, and even glitter stompers and funky disco rompers. Perhaps a better title than Behind the Wheels would have been "Vergeat Does It All," for this compilation indeed showcases his incredible musical versatility. Entertaining, certainly, but not much for Toad fans to sink their teeth into. ~ Jo-Ann Greene

Behind The Wheels album
$8.69 The album's opening track, "Sweet Leaf," a salute to one of the band's favorite smokeable substances, contains one of metal's heaviest guitar riffs, courtesy of Tony Iommi. Another eternal band favorite is the grim, post-nuclear war tale "Children of the Grave." Vocalist Ozzy Osbourne is ...
| | Black Sabbath Sabbath, Bloody Sabbath CD (1973)
Behind The Wheels CD music
$8.65 While the title track is the album's best-known song, SABBATH BLOODY SABBATH proved to be another in a long line of 100% filler-free records from Ozzy and co. Highlights included the creepy "Who Are You?," plus the Tony Iommi riff-mongers "A National Acrobat," ...
| | Black Sabbath Technical Ecstasy CD (1976)
Behind The Wheels music CDs
$6.09 By the mid-'70s, a number of problems were threatening to break up the original line-up of Black Sabbath. The stress brought on by lengthy touring, drug use, and alcoholism had begun to dilute the band's original, influential heavy metal. Sabbath began to drift away from the straight-ahead power rock of such classic albums as PARANOID and SABBATH BLOODY SABBATH, as evidenced by its final two albums to feature singer Ozzy Osbourne, 1976's TECHNICAL ECSTASY and 1978's NEVER ...
| | Black Sabbath Paranoid CD (1971)
Behind The Wheels songs
$8.59 PARANOID proved to be Black Sabbath's most focused, consistent, and successful record. Leaving behind the amorphous, extended jams of their debut for focused songs and a more structured sound, Black Sabbath virtually wrote the book on heavy metal with the ominous, unforgettable riffs, thunderous rhythms, and dark themes on this release. There are some up-tempo rockers, the famous title track for one, but for the most part PARANOID oozes ...
| | Black Sabbath Never Say Die! CD (1978)
Behind The Wheels album
$6.05 By the end of the '70s, though Black Sabbath remained a top concert draw, its albums had become increasingly erratic and sub-par when compared to its earlier master works. Singer Ozzy Osbourne's growing disillusionment with the band had reached a boiling point, especially after it took so long to complete 1978's NEVER SAY DIE, the original line-up's final album. Though the album's title might suggest that the ...

Behind The Wheels music CDs
$13.15 Cannon's Jug Stompers were one of the best jug bands in the 1920s and '30s, featuring a wild, fun sound with a solid blues base and frequent, unexpected melodic turns that kept them continually interesting. The group's earliest recordings are here, including the classics "Feather Bed," "Viola Lee Blues," and "Minglewood Blues," but it's the first five tracks that make this compilation something more than just ...

| | Tom Tall Are You Mine CD (2005) (Import) Germany
Behind The Wheels album
$24.39 Tom Tall and Ginny Wright recorded together and separately for Fabor Robinson's Fabor and Abbot labels in the mid-'50s, scoring exactly two hits: a Tall and Wright duet titled "Are You Mine," and "I Love You," which paired Wright with labelmate Jim Reeves. Bear Family's 31-cut anthology Are You Mine collects most of the duet and solo recordings of Tall and Wright, but oddly omits "I Love You," a major country ...
