The surfin' '60's come alive in the 1964 movie starring Fabian, Tab Hunter, Shelley Fabares, Peter Brown, Barbara Eden. A classic surfing flick starting with a clambake in late December and a super surf contest to see who is the king of surf. Ride The Wild Surf Reviews: "...The surfing long-shots are good, and the close-ups are amusingly hokey..."

Ride The Wild Surf Movie Review Average Rating: (3.7 out of 5 stars) I always loved it It was a 'real" surf movie - always enjoyed it and now have visited where it was made! Submitted by hoyerae (N Olmsted, OH) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Best of Its Kine My father took me to see the movie when it came out. It inspired me to become the king of canvas mat surfing in Destin one summer in the sixties. Like another reviewer said, it's a real surf movie. And while the closeups during the surfing competition suffers from laughable or non-existent special effects, the actors take it seriously. And, as everybody says, the long shots are very good. Overall, this movie is far above the level of the Avalon and Funicello flicks. In any case, the movie's worth the price just to see the amazing resemblance of actor James Mitchum to his father, Bob.
Again referring back to the comments of a previous reviewer, I also had the pleasure of visiting Waimea some 20 years ago and some 20 years after the movie was made. Unfortunately, I had just lost a contact lens to the surf at Sunset, and I was trying to get a rental car back on time, but I did get a somewhat blurry view of whatever that tower is in the movie. I still plan to go back for a better look at the great setting for this picture. Submitted by billcurry (Lafayette, LA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Surfing Classic! The "boys" head over to Hawai to try the BIG waves. They clash with the locals who view their competition (the boys) as inferior. Our hero, Fabian, falls for Shelley Fabares, but almost loses her trying to compete with himself. Several sub-plots are held together fairly well. Barbara Eden does a great job as the free-spirited Augie who "bests" Peter Brown at the opening clambake. Simplistic acting to go along with easily as simple of a plot, but that's part of what makes this movie so appealing. As the description says, the long range surfing shots of big breaking waves are great. The final competition of "last man standing" to determine the king of the waves has some great surfing in it. It's a fun romp along the beach back in the 60's and one of my favorites. If you like happy-ending Elvis movies, you won't be disappointed with this one! $6.55 Elvis Presley stars as Pacer Burton, son of a white father (John McIntire) and Native American mother (Dolores del Rio) who finds his loyalties tested in a war of attrition between a fierce Indian tribe, the Kiowas, and a group of racist white settlers on the Texas frontier in 1870. Although his parents attempt to remain outside the fray, his father is eventually killed in an Indian attack on the settlement. A white man, enraged over the Indian attacks, kills Pacer's mother. Shunned by white society after the Indian attacks, Pacer elects to fight on the side of the Kiowas while his brother, Clint (Steve Forrest), stays with the settlers. When Clint rides into the Kiowa camp alone and kills their chief to avenge his father's murder, Pacer fights off the entire tribe to protect his brother, and Clint barely escapes with his life. After Pacer's girl, Roslyn Pierce (Barbara Eden), has tended to Clint's severe wounds, she's unsuccessful in trying to stop him from going off to try to save his brother's life. Presley gives his finest performance as the sensitive Pacer, ...

$13.55 This swinging spoof of Ian Fleming's spy hero features an aging James Bond (David Niven), reluctantly dragged out of retirement to chase down the evil crime clique called SMERSH. In order to confound the forces led by the villainous Le Chiffre (Orson Welles), the Secret Service enlists five other agents, also under the name "Bond," and all six converge on the titular casino. Meanwhile, Woody Allen, as the retiring secret agent's nephew, causes havoc at every turn.
The gleefully chaotic product of five directors, numerous screenwriters, and the late 1960s in general, CASINO ROYALE ...
