Holy Harmony music CDs
$20.09 This 25-song CD might properly have been called "The Best of the Rest" of Cher, comprised as it is of tracks from her first ten years in music that are usually left off of the "best-of" Cher compilations that are out there. The first 15 songs consist of material from her years on Liberty Records, including oddities such as her mid-'60s cover of Ray Davies' "I Go to Sleep," the ornate "Song Called Children," with its "Eleanor Rigby"-like arrangement, her ultra-cool, Phil Spector-ish version of Bob Dylan's "I Want You," and "Reason to Believe." Some of the material here, such as her recordings of Graham Gouldman's "Behind the Door" and Sonny Bono's "Magic in the Air" (which, one could suspect, was the model for Neil Young's "Broken Arrow"), has been compiled elsewhere, most notably on Bang Bang: The Early Years, although at the time this disc was devised that was not the case -- additionally, assembling all of these odder early Cher sides together makes for a much ...
| | George Skaroulis Numinous CD (1999)
Holy Harmony songs
$18.99 George Skaroulis - Composer/PianistGeorge Skaroulis is fast earning a reputation as one of the best pianists in contemporary instrumental music. With several internationally distributed albums to his credit, Skaroulis' music is effortless, full of grace, and emotionally uplifting. There's no denying Skaroulis' obvious piano-playing talent, but it's his "feel" and his emotionally rich compositions that raise him far above most of the other players in this genre. He successfully fuses Classical, New-Age, and Mediterranean influences to produce a fresh new sound. Skaroulis creates works that are timeless, marking his compositions with his own distinct ambient style.Born and raised in Florida, Skaroulis began playing at the age of five without formal training in either music theory or notation. He showed a fascination for music as he sat on the piano bench next to his mother while she played classical pieces and would often improvise and play along. Recognizing his interest and natural talent, his parents encouraged piano lessons. In five weeks, the lessons were over. The teacher could only be fooled for a short while and soon realized "little George" was playing the lessons by ear.Skaroulis ...

| | Da Brat Limilite Luv & Niteclubz CD (2003) Bonus Track; Japan
Holy Harmony CD music
$33.75 "Got It Poppin'" was nominated for the 2004 Grammy Award for Best Female Rap Solo Performance.
Da Brat's brash demeanor first reared its head when just out of her teens, she broke out in a fittingly enormous way on her debut, FUNKDAFIED, with its sensual smash title track seemingly spending forever that year on R&B, rap, and pop radio. Nearly a decade later, just shy of 30, still rolling with the So-So-Def Crew, sexually hyper-charged as ever, Da Brat shows she can still bring it on LIMELITE, LUV & NIGHTCLUBZ, as strong and as polished but spilling-over-the-edges funky a record as she's ever dropped.
LIMELITE... gets its hooks in from the first track, "World Premiere," featuring the omnipresent Jermaine Dupri, and never lets up, hitting a high point on the following track, the infectious "In Love Wit Chu." Mariah Carey returns a favor (Da Brat guested on the hit "Always Be My Baby" among other Mariah tracks) dropping by on "Gotta Thing For You," which liberally and ably borrows from one of the lushest jazz-pop hits ever, Bobby Caldwell's "What You Won't Do For Love." Part of Da Brat's appeal is her ability to shine on both sexed-up hip-hop torch songs like the above mentioned to club bangers like "Got It Poppin'" and "Who I Am." LIMELITE... reflects her varied ability and holds her place as an important player at the hip-hop table.
An, uh, adaptation of MC Luscious' "Boom! I Got Your Boyfriend" demonstrates more than any other track on Limelite, Luv & Niteclubz that Da Brat has done anything but mature since her third album. "Boom" -- and much of what precedes it and follows it -- sees Da Brat being as lewd and raunchy and nasty as she's ever been, with her head still full of smoke and her mouth full of expletives that are always at the ready to spring forth. Her lines are all the more sharp when they're accented by that dismissive cackle. When it comes to softening up a little, as on the excellent Top 40 single "In Love With Chu," she is capable of appealing to both R&B and hardcore types without sacrificing her rugged personality (Cherish's vocal hook on the chorus ...
