Closed Captioned; Soundtrack English; Dolby Digital 5.1 Re Leon (Jean Reno) is a precise, calculating hit man--a consummate professional, with no family and no friends. However, he has casually befriended Mathilda (Natalie Portman, in an auspicious debut), a 12 year-old neighbor whose entire family, including her adored 4-year-old brother, is wiped out by some crooked DEA agents. The girl pleads with Leon to teach her how to be a "cleaner" and avenge her little brother's death. However, once she learns a few skills, Mathilda saunters into the DEA offices with the sole intention of killing the psychotic agent (Gary Oldman) who actually masterminded the executions. But her intended victim turns the tables on her, and Leon must rescue her. LEON was French director Luc Besson's first film shot in America. Theatrical Release: September 30, 1994 (U.S.)

Leon The Professional Video Leon The Professional Movie Review Average Rating: (4 out of 5 stars) A must-have movie! When Gary Oldman shouted the word "EVERYONE", it shot this movie into 5 star status...and it was already at 4.99 up to that point. And quit dissing the French if they can deliver actors like Jean Reno. He smartly played the role of a cold and heartless person who turned out to have a heart after all. My only complaint was how creepy it was watching a too young Natalie Portman play such an overtly sexual character. But otherwise I had to praise her too for being so powerful a performer at such a young age. Add to your collection! Submitted by Wan Hung Lo (Pensacola, FL) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Highly Recommended Smart action film with great characters especially Oldman's villain. Classic. Submitted by Mick (Earth) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No This review is for a different format.
A True Classic I remember seeing this film was it was released. I remember being surprised how good it was! It was the first time seeing both Jean Reno ane Natalie Portman. It was refreshing seeing an action star other than the "usuals." Jean Reno was scary, yet sensitive. Natalie was cute and memorable. She was young, yet seductive. Gary Oldman was spooky and evil as always.
I had always intended on adding this film to my library. Seeing it again in it's unrated form was like seeing it again for the first time. I had forgotten the story for the most part.
I brought it over to a friend's house, who is a big action, blockbuster-type movie fan. I wasn't sure if he would appreciate this movie, but he really liked it as well.
I think it is one of the all-time Classics of this genre. I'll place it next to "La Femme Nikita," and "Point of No Return" in the cabinet. Submitted by D.H. (San Jose, Ca) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No This review is for a different format.

$15.25 Writer-director Quentin Tarantino revisits the seedier side of Los Angeles--following 1992's RESERVOIR DOGS--with this funny, violent, tongue-in-cheek tribute to the less "classic" side of filmmaking--the potboilers and capers, the Blaxploitation flicks and gangster movies. The film interweaves three tales, told in a circular, fractured manner, which only fully connect by the time the final credits roll. The first story focuses on Vincent Vega (John Travolta) and Jules Winnfield (Samuel L. Jackson), two hit men on ...

$7.45 In CITY BY THE SEA, Robert De Niro plays Vincent, a New York City cop who is investigating a murder that leads him back to the place where he grew up--Long Beach. A born loner who is pained by his past but never shows it, Vincent rarely opens up to his partner (George Dzunda) or his girlfriend (Frances McDormand). However, when his son Joey (James Franco) is named as the murder suspect, he is challenged to confront his duties as a father and a cop.
A constant dialogue between the good times and the bad, the past and the present, and the choices made along the way gives CITY BY THE SEA an emotional, contemplative edge. In its opening scene, a colorful vintage photograph of the happily crowded seaside at Long Beach in the 1970s fades into the cold gray dilapidated locale of ...
