A rare treat, this film features nine of Kulthum's most famous songs by composers Mohamed Al Asabgui and Riad Al Sunbati. Special features include digital remastering, filmographies, theatrical trailer, scene access, and English & French subtitles. FATMA is a rare opportunity to see legendary Egyptian singer Umm Kulthum on the silver screen, where she delivers nine of her most famous songs by innovative composers Mohamed Al Asabgui and Riad Al Sunbati. Kulthum stars as the title character, a poor nurse tending a wealthy patient, whose son she falls in love with and eventually marries. Her rich and powerful husband abandons her while she is pregnant, however, and the disenfranchised woman fights his family in court, facing near-insurmountable odds with courage and strength. Filmed in 1947, this classic film features the diva during her "golden period" at the height of her career, and this release provides a valuable glimpse into 1940s Egyptian life, culture, and societal structures.

$15.49 An award-winning landmark of Egyptian cinema, ADRIFT ON THE NILE is based on the novel by Naguib Mahfouz, the Nobel Laureate author. Lush and vividly photographed, it tells the story of a group of elitist, upper-class friends who gather for a night of hedonistic celebration on an ornate houseboat. Visited by a young reporter, who wants to write a journalistic ...

| | Luis Miguel Mexico En La Piel CD (2004)
Fatma DVD
$8.65 Luis Miguel can always be counted on to deliver romance upon demand, with his trademark persuasive vocal style and luxurious musical arrangements. But with 2004's MEXICO EN LA PIEL, he breaks with tradition (at least on the title track), to acknowledge his fealty to his home country of Mexico. However, the album is by no means a set of patriotic ballads--Miguel remains as devoted to romance as ever on "De Que Manera Te Olvido," with the aid of stirring, passionate strings, and "Echame a Mi La Culpa," with its mariachi-flavored horns. His specialty is the pleading, broken-hearted lover, a role he plays with infectious enthusiasm on "Que Seas Feliz," but on "Un Mundo Raro," he acknowledges that love of one's country can exert a pull as strong as the love of another person. Miguel's lush, string- and horn-laden arrangements work their usual magic, and his expressive vocals exert their compelling ...

Fatma movie DVD
$14.09 Her otherworldly voice is trance-like in such songs as the tranquil "Shepherd Moons," "Angeles," "Evacuee," and "Marble Halls." Accessibly lilting, awash in synth strings, "Caribbean Blue" is this album's answer to "Orinoco Flow," Enya's gigantic worldwide pop hit. The song, as all the others, transports the listener to another place. "How Can I Keep Singing?" is Irish folk music at its best. "Ebudae" is a percussive march with a mushrooming synth, and with its delicate vocals, one must marvel at the beauty of Enya's keening voice.
"Heavenly" ...

Fatma review
$8.59 In Steven Brill's WITHOUT A PADDLE, three friends embark on a hilariously dangerous adventure through the woods of the Pacific Northwest. When their childhood friend Billy dies, 30-year-old buddies Dan (Seth Green), Tom (Dax Shepard), and Jerry (Matthew Lillard) return home to pay their respects. While there, they unearth a map that Billy left behind, which may or may not lead to a hidden treasure. Dan is a germ-phobic doctor who would rather spend his time anywhere but in the wilderness, but the recently dumped Jerry and down-on-his-luck Tom are intent on fulfilling their friend's lifelong dream; and so begins the trio's journey. It isn't long before things begin to spiral out of control. Starting ...
