Right Right Now Now album
$12.55 Despite her star having lost some of its luster in the 2000s, Whitney Houston is still regarded as a benchmark for modern singers of all stripes (from soulful divas to would-be pop idols). Almost seven years in the making, 2009's I LOOK TO YOU marks a music industry homecoming for the singer. Supported by a mob of A-list producers and songwriters including Diane Warren, David Foster, R. Kelly, Alicia Keys, and many more, Houston's vocals are in fine form on material ranging from hip-hop-tinged contemporary R&B ("Million Dollar Bill") to `70s covers (Leon Russell's "A Song for You") to adult contemporary torch songs ("I Look to You").

| | Maxwell Now CD (2001)
Right Right Now Now CD music
$8.49 "Lifetime" was nominated for the 2002 Grammy Award for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance.
Rebounding from the slight sophomore lag generated by 1998's EMBRYA, Maxwell's follow-up NOW abandons the neo-soul man's usual M.O. of using a conceptual arc of songs, and instead focuses on individual cuts. Romance remains the main ingredient found in this Brooklyn native's banquet of song, and although he stands firmly in the neo-soul camp of D'Angelo and Erykah, his use of various stylistic nuances once again ...

Right Right Now Now album
$15.49 Functioning as something of a replacement for the 2001 collection Their Greatest Hits: The Record, The Ultimate Bee Gees covers much of the same ground as that double-disc set, albeit in not quite so linear a fashion. The Record marched through its 40 tracks chronologically, opening with the stately baroque Beatlesque pop of the '60s and then winding through the '70s, whereas this opens with the bright, fabulous blast of "You Should Be Dancing" and remains in their late-'70s heyday for a while before fast-forwarding to such latter-day adult contemporary hits as "One." We don't get ...
| | Jackson 5 Goin' Back To Indiana CD (1971) Remastered
Right Right Now Now CD music
$7.79 Ever the savvy multimedia imprint, Motown Records prepared this long-player to coincide with the Jackson 5's hourlong Goin' Back to Indiana prime time ABC-TV special in September of 1971. With the exception of a few skits -- featuring the likes of Bobby Darin as a used car salesman and Diana Ross, who is credited simply as "the Pregnant Lady" -- the album includes some of the less visually dependent material. The first half of the program was a buildup to the "homecoming" concert. That Gary, IN, performance was held on May 29, 1971, and highlights were excerpted in the final portion of the television show. The long-player replicates that concept, with side one boasting guest shots from Bill Cosby as roving reporter Scoopp Newsworthy and Tommy Smothers as "the Crimson Ghost," an adversary for Tito Jackson's race-car fantasy sequence. Perhaps most impressive is the all-star basketball "dream team" with Elgin Baylor, Ben Davison, Elvin Hayes, and Bill Russell. The latter can be heard during the recitation of "The Day Basketball Was Saved" as the NBA legends go head to head with the Jacksons. Although not documented in front of an audience, the "rehearsal" versions of "I Want You Back" and "Maybe Tomorrow" sport fresh lead vocals over the top of the familiar instrumental backing. Every one of the live cuts crackles with ...
| | Rarest Rockabilly & Hillbilly Boogie: The Best Of Ace Rockabilly CD (1993)
Right Right Now Now music CDs
$14.95 This compact disc combines two Ace Records vinyl compilations of choice 1950s material. Rarest Rockabilly & Hillbilly Boogie anthologizes rockabilly history through the prism of the vanity pressing. For a hundred dollars or so, an Elvis wannabe could cut a couple songs and get back a small pressing for their efforts. Once copies were distributed to nearby radio stations, promoters, and juke box operators, the remaining stash was given away to fans and relatives or sold at dances. Texas-based Starday Records was a hotbed for this; in a period of six years, they issued over 500 titles on their Dixie label or vanity labels, and these are this basis for this compilation. As primitive as some of these are, the ...

| | Tribute To Marilyn Manson CD (2002)
Right Right Now Now CD music
$13.49 For those who are old enough to remember Alice Cooper in his '70s heyday, Marilyn Manson is hardly revolutionary -- entertaining and great for a lot of darkly theatrical fun, but not revolutionary. Cooper, one of rock's true innovators, was genuinely disturbing in his time. Something as gruesome as 1973's "I Love the Dead" (just to give one example) was nothing more than sick humor, but it was the sort of sick humor that sent shock waves through suburban, white-picket-fence-loving middle America. When Manson mined the same shock rock waters 20 years later, it wasn't daring or cutting edge -- after Cooper, Ozzy Osbourne, Blackie Lawless, Slayer, G.G. Allin, grindcore, and gangsta rap, it was hard to get bent out of shape over Manson's obsession with the dark side. But again, Manson is a fun entertainer, ...
