Closed Captioned; Additional Footage; Soundtrack English; Soundtrack French; Soundtrack Spanish; Director's Comments Comedian Bernie Mac gets his first starring vehicle in this foulmouthed baseball comedy. He plays Milwaukee Brewer Stan Ross, a self-centered heavy hitter who retires from the game after 3,000 hits, expecting an automatic entry into the Baseball Hall of Fame. The complication is that when Hall of Fame officials finally--after nine long years--re-do his tally for official consideration, they realize three of his hits where counted twice, so he's only "Mr. 2,997." As his whole life's been revolving around the 3,000 mark, Stan has no choice but to sign up with the Brewers yet again, even though he's now 47 and has not exactly been exercising during his retirement. What could have been just another feel-good sports film--with Stan learning the value of friendship and working together as he gets a second chance at being a team-player--is turned into a laconic, dryly amusing film thanks to Mac's vast array of comic tics, tricks, and perfect comedic timing. Angela Bassett is the smart sports reporter who was once Stan's lover and now won't give him the time of day. And Paul Sorvino sulks excellently as the coach Ross betrayed back in the day. Real-life baseballer Ryan J. White is also good as the new, obnoxious young hitter on the team, with whom Stan has to contend. THEATRICAL RELEASE: SEPTEMBER 17, 2004 Mr. 3000 Reviews: "The film is easygoing and easy to take..."-- Mike Clark, USA Today "Be assured that he is very funny as an egotistical vintage baseball star attempting a comeback. But he also shows some range and resonance..."-- Kevin Thomas, Los Angeles Times "Bernie Mac gives a funny and kind of touching performance as a man who attains greatness once and then has to do it again."-- Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times Mr. 3000 | List Price | $14.99 (You save $7.24) | | Studio | Buena Vista Home Entertainment | | Orig Year | 2004 | | All Time Sales Rank | 28509 | | CD Universe Part number | 6806500 | | Catalog number | 03597700 | | Discs | 1 | | Release Date | Feb 01, 2005 | | Rating | PG-13 (MPAA) | | Rating Reason | sexual content and language | | Running Time | 104 Minutes | | Additional Info | Widescreen; Dubbed; Subtitled | | Movie Details | Color; Widescreen; Dubbed; Subtitled |
Mr. 3000 Movie Review Average Rating: (3 out of 5 stars) The most unfunny sportscomedy I've seen REBOUND with Martin Lawrence is a masterpiece in comparison...
This movie is supposed to be a drama-comedy but it fails in both aspects, it's not funny couse there aren't any good goofs in it (hardly any tries at it) and it's not dramatic becouse Bernie Mac plays a snob who thinks he's number one and treats everybody like dirt, and you are suppose to root for this guy?

Great Effort By Mac/Nice Movie! As fan of Mac since he started as a stand up comedian, I was quite impressed with his acting and he was quite convincing as a baseball player. Add to that Angela Bassett looks like a million bucks in this film which makes this movie a winner! Very realistic portrayal of a pro baseball team. $15.19 In this meet-the-parents sequel to the romantic fairy tale in which two ogres fall in love, SHREK 2 brings the loveable green menace (voiced by Mike Meyers) back to the big screen for a second round of mischief. This time around, in addition to the voices of Cameron Diaz (as Shrek's sweetheart Fiona) and Eddie Murphy (as their companion Donkey), Julie Andrews and John Cleese chime in as Fiona's parents, Queen Lillian and King Harold. Surprising newcomer Puss in Boots (Antonio Banderas)--a slyly funny tabby honed for swashbuckling adventure--joins the crew. Last but certainly not least, the conniving duo of vain Prince Charming (Rupert Everett) and his power-hungry mom, the Fairy Godmother (Jennifer Saunders), spice up the action.
When Fiona insists that her new husband Shrek visit her parents, they travel to Far Far Away (a Disneyfied medieval version of Hollywood) where everything goes ...

$11.45 Zhang Yimou, the director of such Chinese epics as RED SORGHUM, RAISE THE RED LANTERN, JU DOU, and SHANGHAI TRIAD, takes his first stab at a period martial arts film and succeeds wildly, making an intelligent, carefully crafted drama that pays tribute to the genre while taking it to another level. The story is set 2,000 years ago, during the time of the Warring States, when seven kindgoms were battling for dominance, and one leader--the king of Qin (Chen Dao Ming)--was determined to end up victorious and unite all of China as one nation. The proud king is forced to live trapped alone in his palace as a remarkable trio of villains--Broken Sword (Tony Leung Chiu-Wai), ...

$9.79 In Andy Tennant's (SWEET HOME ALABAMA, ANNA AND THE KING) delightful romantic comedy HITCH, Will Smith stars as Alex Hitchens, an urban "date doctor" who helps the common man woo the woman of his dreams. Hitch will use any means necessary--dance lessons, back waxing--to instill romantic confidence in his clientele. Why? He was once a lonely wallflower himself, who learned about love and heartbreak the hard way. His latest project, Albert Brennaman (Kevin James), may be his most difficult. Brennaman, a ...

Mr. 3000 movie DVD
$10.19 After 2002's PANIC ROOM, Jodie Foster took a three year break before deciding to take another leading role in a major motion picture. Three years is a lifetime in Hollywood, but Foster is one of the few stars who can afford to take such a lengthy hiatus from the industry and still command major roles on her return. Robert Schwentke's FLIGHTPLAN is the movie Foster chose as her comeback vehicle; playing the recently widowed Kyle Pratt, she sticks close to PANIC ROOM territory, delving further into fear and isolation as her character boards an airplane to escort her dead husband's body from Berlin to New York.
Kyle brings her young daughter Julia (Marlene Lawston) on the plane with her, and they fly on a craft that was designed by the grieving widow during her tragic tenure in Berlin. But after a short in-flight nap, Kyle awakes to find Julia has disappeared. Her frantic search leads nowhere, and it seems no one on the plane can remember Kyle's daughter ...

In 2004, a low-budget horror film about a man who put people with moral failings into grisly, murderous situations became a huge hit. In 2005, the sequel scored again, upping the body count and the terror. In 2006, the franchise continued, with plenty of gore as well as an emotional story line that delved into the psychological makeup of the main characters. As SAW II concluded, Jigsaw (Tobin Bell) was dying. But that doesn't mean his penchant for playing games of torture and violence is ending. In SAW III, the murders start occurring again, and Kerry (Dina Meyer) is back on the case, although she thinks this time it might be the work of a copycat. She's only partly right: Amanda (Shawnee Smith), the only victim to have survived both movies, has joined Jigsaw as his apprentice, leading the way through ...

$10.25 British director Christopher Nolan's (BATMAN BEGINS) eclectic resume gains another interesting entry with THE PRESTIGE. The basic plot, which concerns the rivalry between two magicians in early 20th-century London, closely resembles a fellow 2006 movie--Edward Norton's THE ILLUSIONIST--and the two films are sure to be closely compared. In Nolan's film, Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale bring the characters of Robert Angier and Alfred Bordon to life. Robert ...
