$12.09 This CD mostly brings back a middle-of-the-road pop date featuring the beautiful voice of Marlene Ver Planck backed by a string orchestra arranged by Billy Ver Planck. The charts are sometimes...more suited to Barbra Streisand than Ella Fitzgerald, although Marlene generally carries it off. But the program (which includes "Go Away, Little Boy," "The Music That Makes Me Dance" and "Hopscotch") is not very jazz-oriented. Much more interesting to jazz fans are five selections recorded especially for this reissue in 1995, for they swing a bit and match Ver Planck with a combo that often includes either trumpeter Joe Wilder or tenor saxophonist Phil Thompson. Marlene had continued ...

$15.19 I was born in Chicago into a reform Jewish family. Our family wasn't religious and didn't believe in heaven, hell, the Devil and I'm not sure about God.My first musical training was in 8th grade when mother bought a chord organ for herself. I started playing a little to her astonishment and she decided to give me the 10 free lessons. I continued with organ lessons and progressed rapidly. After high school I decided to study piano. Not knowing what else to do with my life, I decided I wanted to compose music and became a music major at Indiana University at Bloomington. After that I got married and moved to New York, first upstate and then in the city where I worked as a secretary in Manhattan for almost a year. My husband died in a motorcycle accident and I moved back to Miami where my family was still living. I did some professional dancing and also taught sailing for Miami-Dade Junior College. I liked going sailboat racing and met Lee, who designed and built this incredible 26' sloop I bought used. With his expertise as sailing master we were the boat to beat. I started working with Lee at the boatyard. We had two children, a girl and boy. Music was temporarily forgotten.Through a series of "co-incidences" I started wondering if there was a God. So I started challenging God with "if there's a God, do this", and it always happened. Finally I decided it was mathematically impossible for all theses things to happen coincidentally and God must exist. That is when we moved to Theodore, Alabma (by Mobile). My belief in Jesus, or Yeshua, as the Messiah came about five years later when I finally prayed and asked if Jesus is a fraud or we really are supposed to worship him. So I decided to ask God for a sign letting me know which it was, since he had sent me all these other signs. Anyway, Yah being faithful, showed me that Yeshua is the Messiah and I started going to church.About this time we had our third and fourth children, 18 months apart, both girls. After having the 4th child I got serious with God and He started bringing music back, first at a ladies Bible study at a charismatic church. The Spirit started giving me songs to write immediately. After some years of growing in the Lord and practicing, I started paying at places, such as Home of Grace for women and Aglow. Then I received lots of signs to sing in the choir at a very large Baptist Church where I attended about 2-1/2 years. Then God moved me to Congregation Tree of Life, the Messianic Congregation here in Mobile, where I played the keyboard for five years and was one of the dancers. Since we met on Friday nights on the Sabbath,I also got a job on Sundays as worship leader at an Assembly of God church in Spanish Ft. Alabama. Our last two children wanted to play music too. The oldest decided to play trumpet while Rebecca chose the flute. I believe the Lord chose it for them. They are playing on all three of my CDs. Mandy has a degree in music therapy from Loyola in New Orleans. Rebecca is a sophomore in college, majoring in music performance.I now attend "Jesus Saves Ministries", a non-denominational church where I play the keyboard. I also lead worship at Agape House once a month, which I've been doing about 8 years. I have spoken at Aglows in Alabama, Mississippi and Florida. I also teach dance seminars ...
