This moving and highly personal documentary covers Scott's odyssey of loss and redemption weaving together extensive interviews, archival photos, and international concert footage. DVD features include audio commentary by Scott, director Matthew Buzzell, producer Brian Gerber, editor JAcob Bricca, musician Elie Adams, and Mrs. Jean McCarthy-Scott, plus short film Jimmy Scott Alone Together, photo gallery, and more. PBS presents a compelling documentary about the bizarre life of legendary jazz singer Jimmy Scott, who made a splash in the 1950s, when he recorded with Charlie Parker, Lionel Hampton, and Ray Charles. He subsequently disappeared for decades, working as a dishwasher and nurse's aide, only to reemerge at the age of 60 to reclaim his rightful position as an unique artist, recording many albums since 1992, and happily performing deep into his seventies. Scott's life was transformed at the age of 12 when it was discovered that he suffered from Kallmann's Syndrome, a hormone deficiency that stopped his development past boyhood, giving him his odd appearance and signature high register as a singer. The film chronicles his fascinating but heart-rending victimization by the jazz music industry of the 1950s and subsequent descent into menial jobs to survive until, invited to sing on a local radio show, he was suddenly discovered all over again. Songs include "Why Was I Born?" "All the Way," "Sometimes I Feel Like A Motherless Child," "Everybody's Somebody's Fool," "Embraceable You," "Everybody Needs Somebody," "Pennies From Heaven," "Time After Time," "Memories," "Home," "The Source," and the especially resonant "If You Only Knew."

The Rolling Stones: Keith Richards (vocals, guitar); Mick Jagger (vocals); Brian Jones (guitar); Bill Wyman (bass); Charlie Watts (drums). Recorded at Olympic Studios, London, England. Jimmy Scott - If You Only Knew DVD
$11.79 2004 reissue of 1969 blues-rock classic. Eight tracks.
Ten Years After: Alvin Lee (vocals, guitar); Chick Churchill (piano, organ); Leo Lyons (bass); Ric Lee (drums). Recorded at Morgan Studios, London, England in June 1969. U.K. remaster Ssssh was Ten Years After's new release at the time of their incendiary performance at the Woodstock Festival in August, 1969. As a result, it was their first hit album in the U.S., peaking at number 20 in September of that year. This recording is a primer of British blues-rock of the era, showcasing Alvin Lee's guitar pyrotechnics and the band's propulsive rhythm section. As with most of TYA's work, the lyrics were throwaways, but the music was hot. Featured is a lengthy cover of Sonny Boy Williamson's "Good Morning Little Schoolgirl," with reworked lyrics leaving little doubt ...

$9.79 RENEGADE is an ambitious hybrid of genres that occupies a liminal space similar to that of its main character, Mike Blueberry (Vincent Cassel). Building on the conventions of the Western and adding psychedelic elements and the sophisticated - albeit atypical - European sensibilities of director Jan Kounen, the result is a fascinating and compelling existential film about self-definition and the untapped regions of the mind.
The film opens with a teenage Blueberry (Hugh O'Conor), a recent transplant to the southwest from the Cajun territory of Louisiana. He quickly becomes embroiled in a battle with local bad guy Wallace Sebastian Blount (Michael Madsen) when Blount gets violent during ...

$10.05 Among the scariest movies ever put on celluloid, like its similarly styled sister, RINGU, this tale of death-by-curse is nothing short of blood chilling. With chapters named after each subsequent victim, it plays like a series of increasingly daunting, deadly vignettes. All of the stories surround a haunted house where the evil spirit of a 5-year-old boy still lurks. The first to enter the residence and be cursed is a young hospice worker visiting an elderly client. She finds the boy duct-taped in a closet, where he first appears to her in the form of a black cat, and then shows his human form which is a shockingly ...
