All tracks have been digitally remastered using HDCD technology. This is a hybrid Super Audio CD playable on both regular and Super Audio CD players. Personnel: Bryan Ferry; Chester Kamen, David Gilmore, David Sanborn, Ednah Holt, Fonzi Thornton, Guy Fletcher , Alan Spenner, Alfa Anderson, Marcus Miller, Mark Knopfler, Martin McCarrick, Neil Hubbard, Neil Jason, Nile Rodgers, Omar Hakim, Andy Newmark, Ruby Turner, Tony Levin , Keith Scott, Jimmy Maelen, John Carin, Michelle Cobbs, Yannick Etienne, Colleen Fitz Charles, Virginia Hewes, Anne Stephenson. Having at last laid Roxy to bed with its final, intoxicatingly elegant albums, Ferry continued its end-days spirit with his own return to solo work. Dedicated to Ferry's father, Boys and Girls is deservedly most famous for its smash single "Slave to Love." With a gentle samba-derived rhythm leading into the steadier rock pace of the song, it's '80s Ferry at his finest, easy listening without being hopelessly soporific. As a whole, Boys and Girls fully established the clean, cool vision of Ferry on his own to the general public. Instead of ragged rock explosions, emotional extremes, and all that made his '70s work so compelling in and out of Roxy, Ferry here is the suave, debonair if secretly moody and melancholic lover, with music to match. Co-producer Rhett Davies, continuing his role from the latter Roxy albums, picks up where Avalon left off right from the slinky opening grooves of "Sensation." The range of people on the album is an intriguing mix, from latterday Roxy members like Andy Newmark and Alan Spenner to avid Roxy disciples like Chic's Nile Rodgers. Everyone is subordinated to Ferry's overall vision, and as a result there's not as much full variety on Boys and Girls as might be thought or hoped. The album's biggest flaw is indeed that it's almost too smooth, with not even the hint of threat or edge that Ferry once readily made his own. As something that's a high cut above the usual mid-'80s yuppie smarm music, though, Boys and Girls remains an enjoyable keeper that has aged well. ~ Ned Raggett Ferry's first solo effort since the second breakup of Roxy Music is arguably his best, in part because it continues in the direction the band had been going. It's like AVALON, only more so. Here, Ferry's lounge lizard affectations are writ large; the lyrical pose is all bruised romantic fatalism (say hello, "Slave to Love"), and the music fits it like a glove. The album's soundscapes are lush and echo-laden, and nearly every track has a discreet disco pulse; "Valentine," the one exception, is mid-tempo reggae. Overlaid with skittish percussion and guitars, BOYS AND GIRLS is the aural equivalent of a white dinner jacket and a half-empty bottle of champagne.Q (2/00, pp.99-100) - 4 stars out of 5 - "...having been stylistically frozen by high concept soul....[it] lends Ferry's work a timeless quality....BOYS & GIRLS is essentially a sister album to Roxy Music's sublime swansong [AVALON]..." **Super Audio CD (SACD) Hybrid** This CD will play in standard CD players. A Super Audio CD player is required to take advantage of the SACD sound technology. Bryan Ferry Boys And Girls Songs Boys And Girls Music Review Average Rating: (5 out of 5 stars) the masterpiece of dark pop romanticism It is an awesome thing, this record, maybe the most haunting rock record ever. Yet, it doesn't really rock in an agressive, hype up your emotions way. It is brooding, like a wintery night in New York all swallowed up in romantic longing. There is the chill of death at the end, and the beautiful dedication to his recently deceased father makes it resonate with depth. Lyrically, melodically and sonically layered to perfection from beginning to end. The eighties had a lot of fantastic, brilliant music that some revisionists have not bothered to seek out. Sorry, if you never heard this, the Cure, Siouxie, Dead Can Dance, the Cocteau Twins, the Smiths, early U2 and so much more you have only yourself to blame for thinking it was all crappy synth pop back then (and stupid hair). It wasn't. Go back and check for yourselves. Ditch the radio and lies about the era that have been passed on by uninformed culture snobs and dig deep. I don't live in the past. I know who Radiohead and Sigur Ros and Bjork are. I love them all, but they would be the first to tell you about the influence of the eighties on their work. Lyrical, Timeless, Haunting... I loved this album since first I heard it so long ago and it still possesses the same smoky, haunting resonance as it did then. I love this album--Bryan Ferry still charms. Submitted by Kassie (Canada) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Boys And Girls
$12.65 Personnel: Birdman (rap vocals); 6 Shot, Lil Wayne, Lil' Mo, Main , Big Tymers, T.A., Currency, Lil' Carl, Chop, Bun B (rap vocals). Dirty South haters are going to point out that Fast Money covers the same old tired topics Cash Money releases have beaten to death for nearly a decade and a half. Yes, thugging, big pimping, spitting bravado, and boasting about the quality of Cash Money women and weed are all over Birdman's sophomore release, but Cash Money's CEO shows that his pimp hand is strong, giving his entire roster the Dirty South blueprint for a perfect weekend album. As a rapper, Bryan Williams (or Baby, now almost always Birdman) has always been a P. Diddy character, serviceable with the rhymes but a better boss and impresario. Here, he's a step up from on fire, keeping it simple as expected but always driven and cocksure. What's fascinating is that he's also ready for your ire, begging haters to bring it on. Using the "N" word as much as possible, dragging out every old cliché, and sticking the album's two weed songs right next to each other gives every snooty backpacker plenty of ammo and every opportunity to look like a chump in 2015 when Fast Money is reissued in some kind of tenth-anniversary "Dirty South Classic" edition with four-star quotes on the cover and liner notes that wax poetic about the album's perfection. Birdman's B.G. meets Jay-Z style is surrounded by the thickest, slickest production Cash Money has ever been graced with, courtesy of Deezle, the Birdman himself, and his Big Tymers partner, Mannie Fresh. 50 Cent ...

Boys And Girls
$15.15 Multiple award-winning Canadian singer/songwriter Chantal Kreviazuk is set to release her fourth studio album.
Audio Mixers: William Paden Hensley; Michael Brauer. The Canadian singer-songwriter Chantal Kreviazuk's fourth album is a classy assortment of string- and piano-laced pop whose rhythmic foundations are a departure from her previous, more subtle collections. Both "Spoke in Tongues" and "Mad About You" feature arresting percussion arrangements, against which Kreviazuk's charmingly accented English weaves a hypnotic spell, while the soul-baring, solo piano-accompanied "Asylum" and "Wendy House" inhabit a musical and lyrical space somewhere between Tori Amos's baroque confessionals and Kate Bush's enigmatic imagery.
