| | Madonna Justify My Love (1993)
Pre4orm CD music
$7.49 With the release of the electric "Justify My Love," Madonna (or her record label) had perfected the art of the CD maxi-single, issuing a record with four distinct mixes, each different from the other and sometimes seeming to be completely different songs. The "Orbit 12" Mix (mixed by William Orbit) is a groovier version than the original (which is the first mix on this disc), and brings Lenny Kravitz's background vocals to the forefront. The hip-hop mix (track three) utilizes horns and has additional explicit lyrics and vocals, almost making one feel as if one is winding down in a New York after-hours hip-hop club at 4 a.m. The fifth mix ("The Beast Within Mix") is completely different from the others, almost sounding like a totally different song (which could have been titled "The Beast Within"). Complete with Eastern influences (which would later resurface on the song "Erotica") and totally different lyrics, this mix brings a much more sinister edge to an already dark, seductive song. To round out the single is an additional nine-plus-minutes mix of her 1989 hit "Express Yourself." This disc, along with its excellent artwork, stands ...

| | Green Day American Idiot (2004)
Pre4orm songs
$5.19 Rock opera and punk are usually two mutually exclusive musical styles. Then again, Green Day has never followed any rock rulebook, so it's not entirely surprising that the trio crafted a punk-rock opera that takes the Bush administration and its policies to task. It doesn't get any more pointed than a couplet from the frenetic title cut that states, "I'm not a part of a redneck agenda/Now everybody do the propaganda!"
Under the guidance of any other group of agitated punks, the results of such an undertaking could easily become didactic. But with creative spearhead Billie Joe Armstrong at the helm, AMERICAN IDIOT is melodically driven, with the kind of intellectual bent that allows for a pair of mini-operas, "Jesus of Suburbia" and "Homecoming." Trimmed with a light sprinkling of piano and a big guitar sound occasionally reminiscent of Mott the Hoople, the former skewers ...

| | Bud Shank Live At The Haig CD (1956)
Pre4orm songs
$9.65 Altoist Bud Shank recorded frequently as a leader during 1954-1969 for Richard Bock's Pacific Jazz and World Pacific labels, but very few of those diverse records (other than his collaborations with guitarist Laurindo Almeida) are currently available. An exception is this CD reissue (on Choice) of a live set by his 1956 group for the obscure Concept label. Recorded in early stereo by Gerry MacDonald, the Shank Quartet (with pianist Claude Williamson, bassist Don Prell and drummer Chuck Flores) was caught during a seven-month period when they worked regularly at the Haig in Los Angeles. They stretch out on Williamson's "Ambassador Blues" and a variety of standards, playing cool-toned bop and pushing themselves. Easily recommended to straight-ahead jazz fans. [Originally released in 1956, Live at the Haig was reissued on an import-only Japanese CD in 2003.] ~ Scott Yanow
One of the first jazz recordings made in stereo, this pulsating set took place at the legendary ...

$15.00 The AMERICAN PEDDLERS formed in the early 1970's in San Antonio, Texas. Later known as "THE PEDDLERS" this rock and roll band rapidly became the most popular band on the US Air Force circuit. Their popularity with the young airmen soon took them to Air Force Bases all over America. In 1976 THE PEDDLERS put together a 2 hour show called "ROCK & ROLL AMERICA" in conjunction with Americas' bicentennial celebration. The show covered the evolution of rock and roll music from it's beginning in the 1950's to the most current rock of the 1970's. THE PEDDLERS recorded three albums of original music. Their first album was called "ONCE UPON A ROCK". It contained contributions from band members KEVIN DOOLAN JOE TORRA, GLENN SMITH and AARON BARKER. Recorded at Pecan Street Studios in Austin, Texas this album contains songs such as "YOU GOT THE MUSIC", "EBERLE PARK", and the timeless classic "THE CIRCLE SONG". The second album by THE PEDDLERS was recorded live at various Air Bases across America. Titled "REAL TO REEL" this album contains many live versions of the bands studio album as well as live renditions of some newer material. This recording features the blistering lead guitar solos' of GLENN SMITH and of course the amazing keyboard work of JOE TORRA on " THE CIRCLE SONG". The final album by THE PEDDLERS was called "SURVIVE". This was a tribute album to all the airmen who made the Peddlers so popular for so long. This album featured songs about "Basic Training" and life in the Air Force. With titles like "YESTERDAY I WAS A RAINBOW", "SURVIVE" and "WHAT STATE ARE YOU FROM" this album soon became the most popular PEDDLERS' album amoung the troops of the United States ...
