A ruthless gang in post-WWII Tokyo targets trains, as an undercover U.S. Army man must find a way to stop them. Stars Robert Stack, Robert Ryan and Shirley Yamaguchi. Sam Fuller's (THE BIG RED ONE) 1955 crime noir thriller was the first American film made in Japan after WWII, and features stunning photography of a pre-modern Tokyo dominated by images of cherry blossoms and Kabuki theater. Robert Stack (AIRPLANE!, CADDYSHACK II) stars as Eddie Kenner, a US army operative sent to Tokyo to investigate the underhanded dealings of an ex-GI named Sandy Dawson (Robert Ryan, THE WILD BUNCH). Dawson has taken up robbing ammunition trains, and is also the kingpin of a local crime racket. Kenner must garner the criminal's trust without letting on his true intentions, and he is aided in his endeavor by Mariko (Shirley Yamaguchi), the wife of a dead American soldier.
House Of Bamboo Reviews: "Directed by cult filmmaker Samuel Fuller in his brief big-studio period....[The film] benefits from CinemaScope Tokyo location footage from a time when few Hollywood productions got to shoot there."-- Mike Clark, USA Today 5 stars out of 5 -- "The mighty Sam Fuller's crackling Cinemascope gangster flick, a tale of betrayal in 1950s Tokyo....It looks beautiful..."-- Damien Love, Uncut "[T]remendous....There is a trace of Harry Lime in Ryan's character....This impression is reinforced by the violent finale..."-- Geoffrey Macnab, Sight and Sound

$10.49 This relatively little-known film is widely hailed by fans of the macabre. Truly ahead of its time, NIGHTMARE ALLEY is set in the gritty, surrealistic world of traveling carnivals, where eccentric people of all possible varieties interact on a daily basis. In a departure from his usual roles as the Hollywood leading man, handsome Tyrone Power plays a morally questionable circus apprentice determined to climb the carnival ladder no matter what the price. Powers shows immense ...

$10.29 In this dramedy starring Cillian Murphy (28 DAYS LATER) and Colin Farrell (PHONE BOOTH) a series of coincidences and haphazard relationships unite a small group of people living in Dublin. The result is an alternately depressing and humorous sideways glance at the way that people make their life decisions, seen through a group of duplicitous characters each of whom has a stubborn, selfish side and a soft, vulnerable side. With plenty of off-kilter jokes running the gamut from impotence and adultery to pissing and puking, INTERMISSION delivers its crowing potshot to female moustaches--quaintly nicknamed "tash" here. Sally (Shirley Henderson) is the downtrodden young woman with the "tash," and is also the sister of Deirdre (Kelly Macdonald) who is on the rebound after a hard breakup. Her ex-boyfriend ...
