Many years ago, I see this film in CINERAMA and his espectacular five chanels of glorious sound.
Now the DVD is Digital MONO.
The volcano explosions sound "pop".
It is ridiculous.

Like old, good wine
This movie picture is based on one of the most dramatic natural disasters, the volcanic eruption on Krakatoa island, in 1883. After that the island vanished and a huge tidal wave provoked tremendous losses.
The story brings together on a ship some passengers. Others have nothing in common and others have something to look for and to share. When Krakatoa erupts, all of them have to find a choice which means life.
«Krakatoa – East of Java» is not another catastrophe movie picture, but much, much better. Though the story is almost common and expected, it keeps continuously the attention. Adventure starts right from the beginning and goes on. Visual effects (there is a lot) seem somehow old-fashioned, but this is a plus: because they bring the nostalgia of another movie era.
The dvd has not anything special to offer besides good picture and sound. But it is a «must» for the friends of good adventures of the seventies. .
