NHK Okasan To Issho: Utau Mori No CD music
$13.79 Italian vocalist Laura Pausini became a worldwide sensation during the first 10 years of her recording career (although her success in America is minimal compared to Europe and Latin America). PRIMAVERA IN ANTICIPO, released in 2008 in both Italian and Spanish versions, extends Pausini's command over the adult contemporary form, offering up 14 tracks that play like foreign-language versions of Celine Dion or Phil Collins. NHK Okasan To Issho: Utau Mori No songs
$15.15 Celtic Woman, initially a one-shot collaboration by six leading Irish vocalists for a 2004 PBS special, struck a chord of adoration for the Emerald Isle, a fancy affecting both sides of the Atlantic, and swiftly became a permanent collective. THE GREATEST JOURNEY captures many of the best moments of elegant harmonizing by the act, from their serene and rapturous take on Enya's "Orinoco Flow" to the mournful yet poppily uplifting indigenous folk of "You Raise Me Up."
Import pressing includes two bonus tracks, Mo Ghile Mear (Live From Slane Castle) and Spanish Lady (Live From Slane Castle). Since ...

| | World Psychedelic Classics 3: Love's A Real Thing: The Funky, Fuzzy Sounds Of West Africa CD (2005)
NHK Okasan To Issho: Utau Mori No CD music
$10.55 Love's a Real Thing is an excellent introduction into the wild sound world of West Africa in the '70s. As Ronnie Graham points out in his superb liner notes, the '60s were a time of assimilation for much of the popular music of Africa. Many bands were playing a hybrid of Latin and African music typified by the Congolese rhumba of Franco & OK Jazz. The '70s were a different bag, though, with the heavy electric sounds of Jimi Hendrix, James Brown, Cream, and others seeping into the consciousness of a new generation of Africans who were also contending with their own emerging sense of identity. The results are raucous, exuberant melting pots of funky soul, psychedelic rock, and honey-sweet Latin horns mixed through the sensibilities of extremely talented African bands on the cusp of developing styles like soukous, mbalax, and Afro-beat. Senegal's Star Band Number One (aka Etoile de Dakar and confusingly billed here as No. 1 de No. 1), were already seasoned veterans by the dawn of the 1970s, and the sound of their "Guajira Van" with its sinewy fuzz guitar solo and talking drum stabs is glorious proto-mbalax. Elsewhere, there are songs more directly inspired by rock and soul. "Allah Wakbarr" by Ofo & the Black ...

NHK Okasan To Issho: Utau Mori No CD music
$11.59 The Memphis quintet known as Saliva has come a long way; with a gold album (EVERY SIX SECONDS), and a Grammy nomination ("Your Disease") behind them, the band is still playing for keeps. The presence of more melody, and the decreased prominence of rapcore vocals are the standout traits ...

NHK Okasan To Issho: Utau Mori No album
$13.19 The peyote ceremony has long been a ritual among Native Americans, from Mexico and the Southwest up to the North. It's sacred and honored among all the peoples for the wisdom peyote brings. The songs of the ceremony use a water drum and gourds, along with prayer songs traditionally sung in fours during the event -- at the beginning, again at midnight, dawn, and when it finishes. Gerald Primeaux takes this tradition and makes it his own ...
