What started out as Vanessa Williams roaming through her old record collection became EVERLASTING LOVE, an all-covers album of 1970s love songs. One of the most impressive things about this particular project is how Williams went somewhat off the beaten path in choosing material. In hooking up with longtime musical arranger Rob Mathes, the native New Yorker has slipped her smooth and supple voice into pristine arrangements that emanate romantic vibes. Williams's notable choices range from a subtle, bossa nova-flavored take on Stevie Wonder's "Send One Your Love" to a stripped-down version of "Midnight Blue" that would do Melissa Manchester proud. George Benson (whose '70s jazz-to-pop crossover songs made him a household name) contributes guitar to a Quiet Storm-like "Never Can Say Goodbye," giving a more mature sheen to this Jackson 5 smash. Benson's presence is also ideal when he plays Billy Preston to Williams's Syreeta on a rendition of "With You I'm Born Again" that perfectly fits the duo's vocal styles.

I have always liked Vanessa Williams music, acting, etc. So when I heard she was going to make a retro cd, I wondered how she was going to make these songs into smooth jazz, but I was not disappointed, she really does an excellent job on this album. I like Never Can Say Goodbye, One Less Bell, Everlasting Love. Her voice soars on this album. I recommend this album, you will not be sorry.

 Glad She Is Back
Even though this is Vanessa singing the hits of other artist...she did a very good job of it. He voice is always welcomed in my CD player. The selection of songs she decided to put on this CD is great. They are some of my favorites.

I was very happy with some of the song selections on this CD. I have alwys felt her voice was better than today's music. Some of these songs prove that.

This CD is is truly amazing. Vanessa's vocals are superb on from beginning to end. My personal favorite at the moment is Midnigh Blue. I had completely forgotten how beautiful her voice is.
An amazing CD, but then again we're talking about an amazing talent!
