The infamous Cunningham Hall Mental Facility houses the most psychotic and dangerous mental patients in the country. When a staff nurse is murdered, Clark Stevens, a new psychiatric intern, starts digging for answers and soon realizes that there is something very wrong with the people at the asylum....but it's not just the patients. Joshua Leonard, Jordan Ladd, Natasha Lyonne, and Lance Henriksen star in this R-rated film. A star-studded cast highlights this chilling creepfest, marking a decidedly new route for the familiar genre trope of an insane asylum that isn't quite what it seems. Soon after his arrival, Dr. Clark Stevens (Joshua Leonard, THE CHRONICLES OF RIDDICK: ESCAPE FROM BUTCHER BAY) begins to suspect something amiss at the Cunningham Hall Mental Facility, home to some of the most notorious psychiatric patients in the country. He undertakes an investigation of the hospital's history with the help of one of the nurses, played by Jordan Ladd (CLUB DREAD), but what they uncover may cost them their lives. The cast also includes Natasha Lyonne (BUT I'M A CHEERLEADER), and Lance Henriksen (HELLRAISER: HELLWORLD). Good psychological horror Very awesome psychological thriller. Great acting, Great storyline, Great Scenes, and Great Score. Amazing job (couldn't tell that it was low-budget). Only reason I didn't give 5 stars was because it lacks replay value. I honestly believe that the people that gave it a low rating were judging on the action scale, and not the psychological scale. Would definately recommend to anyone that is into intellectual horror! Submitted by JugglesJ (New Bern, NC) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
... very good movie I gave 2 stars only for this reason - film start amazing, the first time when I start watch it, I was shocked and very afraid... first couple min of this film and almost half of this movie - promise... and 2 stars is only for story and end of this film... sorry, there is no story, like begining of movie promise, and when I expected more blood and killing and I hope that creatures from hospital cellar escape and make terror... but there was nothing, of that... just when action started, film ended... It's pretty good, but it lack's replay value... The title say's it all.To me it was good with a good twist at the end,but the replay value I don't think is that good.I mean once you see it,and know how it end's you might not want to watch it for a long time, kinda like the sixth sense. So I took off a star for that. But then again the nutty acting people help's on that issue a bit,not to mention the visuals were pretty good.So use you'r own judgement, but it's definately worth a rental... Good Horror Flick Joshua Leonard is terrific in this film. Jordan Ladd is the next Kari Wuhrer. Veteran actor Lance Henriksen lends his talent in a small but pivotal role, as does the wonderful Natasha Lyonne in a part you will get a kick out of (it looks like she did). There is a graphic shock early in the film, so be prepared and don't let it turn you off from investigating the film further (as it did me the first time I tried to watch it). Again, you will love Joshua Leonard. Submitted by Pete (Iowa, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Madhouse review
$10.05 In the 1970s, moviegoers reveled in a new sub-genre of horror films that were low on plot, required only the most basic acting skills, and called upon dumb teenagers to die onscreen deaths in a multitude of strange and horrific ways. The slasher movie was born, and with it came classic features such as THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE, HALLOWEEN, and FRIDAY THE 13TH. The genre enjoyed a postmodern revival in the late-20th and early-21st centuries with films such as SCREAM and SCARY MOVIE, but French director Alexandre Aja (FURIA) hauls the slasher film back to its roots with his gore-addled romp HIGH TENSION.
Like the most effective additions to the genre, HIGH TENSION's plot is elemental, and simply serves as a springboard for Aja to deliver lashes of blood and guts. Alex (Maiwenn Le Besco) and Marie (Cecile De France) are two teenage girls who head out to Alex's family home in the French countryside. Once there, their idyllic ...

$10.29 It's always been said that a video game cannot be successfully adapted into a film. With SILENT HILL, director Christophe Gans (BROTHERHOOD OF THE WOLF) and screenwriter Roger Avary (KILLING ZOE) have the benefit of the atmospheric and often terrifying game series of the same name. With a budget reportedly in excess of $50 million, they wisely eschew dense plot in favor of a kaleidoscopic nightmare--culled from several volumes of ...
