With almost three decades of recording under their belts, Conjunto Primavera can truthfully claim to have seen both sides of the pop world--until the mid-1990s, the prolific Norteno band enjoyed limited success. However, after their first bona fide hit, 1993's ME NORTIE, they could do no wrong.
The Chihuahua, Mexico sextet's 2005 release, HOY COMO AYER, further cements their hard-won position as giants of Norteno, with a set of songs that combines deep emotion, solid tradition, and innovative, masterly musical touches. The percussive flourishes that lace the accordion-flavored "Mono Negro" subtly accent Tony Melendez's impassioned vocals, while the jaunty "Aun Sigues Siendo Mia" is Norteno two-step at its finest. The waltz-time "El Rey Pobre" is a stylish example of impassioned ranchera singing that, like all of this classy collection's material, tugs at the heartstrings, while avoiding excess sentimentality. Showing versatility finely honed over the years, the smoothly realized cumbia of "Dime Que No Es Cierto" displays a gently insistent dance beat that points to many more years of chart success for this spirited outfit. Brian David & The S.W. Stomp was born from over 12 years of filling yellow paged notebooks with thoughts, feelings, opinions and ideas. Songwriting has always been a strong passion and has helped me get thru the Ups and Downs of a 11 year career in the Financial Services Industry as well as the good and the bad relationships throughout my life. My music career started in April of 2006, after parting ways with a local rock band called Murge after almost 3 years, although in my mind a solo career began more than 12 years ago when I wrote my first song called “That Day” about the day my father came back from the doctors office to tell that my mother may not live to see me graduate form High School. I fell in love with songwriting at that very moment. I have always strived to put a level of emotion and intensity in every song I write. We have been influenced by everything from 80's Rock bands like Kiss and Motley Crue to country artists like Sawyer Brown to modern alternative rock bands like Staind and Collective Soul as well as artist like Dave Mathews, Howie Day, Jack Johnson and David Gray. Since going solo we have been contacted by some of the best clubs in town to be openers for big local acts as well as national acts that have come to town and played our EP Release Party to a sold out crowd at O’Gara’s Garage in St Paul. Our Debut Solo EP “Up Down Sideways” which came out on September 23rd, 2006 has already gotten rave reviews and huge interest amongst over 20,000 friends on myspace as well as local press and our follow up CD “Supposed To Do” was just released in October 2007. Our sound is easily described as Acoustic Stomp Pop/Rock. The canvas behind it all is former drummer from Murge, Sean Woodward (S.W. Stomp) who brings a unique range of beats and special percussion to create a Stompy Acoustic Signature sound backed by a passionate lyrical baritone singing voice of Brian David.
