| | Giant Drag Lemona CD - Import Giant Drag Discography of CDs
(1 Customer Review)
Giant Drag is a duo made up of Annie Hardy (guitars and vocals) and Micah Calabrese (drums). They have a killer song, "This Isn't It." It's the first song on Lemona, their debut EP. The song is like the shoegaze anthem that none of the bands in the '80s/'90s had the spunk to record. The music is pure distorted candy floss, the lyrics razor sharp, and Hardy's vocals resigned and furious at the same time. It's the kind of song you will listen to five or six times in a row, getting more and more into it each time. The rest of the EP doesn't quite live up to the track, but who could really expect that. The four songs are decent post-everything guitar rock, a little forced but still enjoyable. Think of the record like this: "This Isn't It" is Psychocandy, the rest is Automatic. ~ Tim Sendra

| | Burn To Shine 03: Portland DVD (2005)
Lemona songs
$10.19 Director Christoph Green teams up with producer Brendan Canty (of punk rock figureheads Fugazi) for another installment of their fascinating BURN TO SHINE series. The premise for these films finds Green and Canty travelling to a different city, locating houses that are soon to be demolished, then staging a unique last-rites-style ceremony for the buildings by getting local, independently minded musicians to perform in them. This third installment takes place in Portland, Oregon, and includes performances by the Shins, Sleater-Kinney, the Decemberists, Mirah, the Thermals, Quasi, the Gossip, Wet Confetti, Planet The, Lifesavas, the Ready, and Tom Heinl.

| | Fire Engines Hungry Beat CD (2007)
Lemona album
$12.95 Thanks in part to the popularity of Scottish dance-rock act Franz Ferdinand in the early 2000s, the Fire Engines became perhaps the most name-dropped band most people had never actually heard. The band's limited recorded output was released on vinyl seven-inch, LP, and EP in the early '80s; it quickly went out of print, and became nearly impossible to track down. In 2007, Acute Records issued HUNGRY BEAT, a 16-track ...

| | Pink Floyd Is There Anybody Out There? The Wall Live 1980-81 CDs (2000) Limited Edition
Lemona songs
$33.39 Includes liner notes by Gerald Scarfe, Roger Waters, Nick Mason, Jonathan Park, Mark Fisher, James Guthrie, David Gilmore, Richard Wright.
This edition of THE WALL LIVE 1980-1981 includes a 64-page casebound book.
In releasing this two-CD live album of Pink Floyd's elaborate production, both the Roger Waters and David Gilmour-led camps almost atone for the bitter back-biting fans have endured throughout the '80s and '90s. As delivered by Waters, Gilmour, Nick Mason, Richard Wright and a smattering of back-up musicians, these renditions are a reminder of how tight this Floyd line-up could be.
Among THE WALL's major themes are the character's mixed feelings over sex as revealed by "Young Lust," an overprotective mom and the hazards thereof in "Mother," and the decision of the musician's label to drug him up to perform in "Comfortably Numb." Two welcome but ephemeral songs cut from the original studio album, "What Shall We Do Now?" and "The Last Few Bricks" are also included in this release of Waters' sprawling concept. Complimenting the crystalline acoustics of this classic performance is packaging including 64 pages of artwork and photos from the original shows, with liner notes by all four Floyd members, art director Gerald Scarfe, and the show's stage designers.

| | Captain Beefheart Live 'N' Rare CDs (2005) (Import) Limited Edition; United Kingdom
Lemona album
$19.69 A boon for collectors, Live 'n' Rare is a sumptuous two-CD set that is true to its title, rounding up various live performances recorded between 1972 and 1980. All 26 of the tracks are drawn from British gigs, including Captain Beefheart & the Magic Band's headlining appearances at the Bickershaw and Knebworth festivals in 1972 and 1975, respectively. Falling between those two red-letter dates are tracks recorded at shows in Leicester in 1973 and London the following year, with the bulk, however, drawn from a concert in Manchester in 1980. Needless to say, then, this set features various lineups of the Magic Band, although the album gives no information on them, or anything else for that matter. Regardless, the hardcore Heartheads can reel off such details in their sleep, and that's precisely who this set is aimed at. Although the recording quality is patchy and the sound often weedy, it's still mostly adequate enough to keep fans happy, although some may be a bit disgruntled by the hissing issuing throughout the Knebworth recordings. Bouncing back and forth through the ...
