Discipline songs Product Information
Discipline album for sale by King Crimson was released Jun 28, 2005 on the Discipline label. After spending the second half of the '70s on various solo projects, the irrepressible Robert Fripp decided to reinvent King Crimson. Instead of building on the group's '70s legacy, Fripp burned his bridges and started from scratch, even though KC drummer Bill Bruford returned to the fold for the '80s version of the band. The new Crimson was influenced equally by funk, world music, Balinese Gamelan orchestras, minimalism and the new pan-cultural sounds being made by the likes of Talking Heads and Peter Gabriel (in retrospect, the former's REMAIN IN LIGHT, which featured future Crimson guitarist/vocalist Adrian Belew, seems an undeniable influence). ...See Full Description

||The ultimate musicians band|
I have been listening to this record since its release and never tire of the incredible musicianship that is displayed. Robert Fripp is a master of his guitar craft,Adrian Belew sings and plays guitar like no one i have ever heard,Bill Bruford lays down the most complex drum patterns and makes it sound effortless and Tony Levine extracts noises out of his Stick Bass that melds everything together seamlessly. Its difficult to put this into words but Discipline is one of those recordings that has no peers. Some of the heaviest yet beautiful sounds are captured here. This record is the first in a trilogy as i see it and was followed by Three of a perfect pair and Beat.All of these contained the same line up but Discipline was the crowning glory. There is also availiable a live double Cd set released in 94 entitled B-Boom live in Argentina which features songs from Discipline which are are taken straight off a DAT desk tape and sound incredible. If you do not own a copy of Discipline you are missing a large part of the picture as far as King Crimson are a massively influential band in many areas.Adrian Belew has also released a a quantity that is well worth looking at.Lone Rhino being one of the best. Step into the world of King Crimson in the 80s,an altogether different trip than their earlier work. Who said nothing good ever came out of the 80s musically.

||an anniversary (disc) worth remembering|
There are a great number of simpletons out there who will blather on over some DIATRIBE about KC touring in November of '81 with this material. How then could this be the 30th anniversary release? Quite obviously, the band was so avante garde, it would HAVE to be acknowledged by a 30-year anniversary marking, at the very least. The performances on here are top notch; each member operating at the peak of their powers. The Brufurdian Snare Effect (BSE) is alive and well. Adrian's vocal performances are solid and profound. Happy 30th Anniversary, boys...at least.

||Just as I remember !|
As I re-stock my album collection from the 70's and 80's, this was a must. Where is this type of musicianship today. I certainly haven't had a chance to listen to this album for more than 10 years and it did not fail me. Worth the re-stocking price.

This one more step in KC's portfolio. Sometimes slightly minimalistic sometimes more sheer rock and progressive all the time. I would say KC is some sort of the "Philip Glass" of the progressive world. Good album, highly recommended.

||What Happened after Red?|
Crimson was one of the best ARTISTS in history. In my opinoin everything after this album went down hill. The only song i like on this album is Matte Kudasai.. i love that song. but this album definately was their turning point. I dont understand how such a sane artist can suddenly die.
