Like many of his peers who innovated throughout the late '80s and early '90s, Gerald Simpson has settled into production work that, while mostly enjoyable, isn't nearly as inspired or individualist as his early material. Play the blindfold test with a disciple of early 808 State and the first couple dozen Juice Box releases and see if various parts of To All Things What They Need aren't mistaken for latter-day Smith & Mighty or mildly diverting soundtrack work heard during episodes of any crime investigation drama. To his credit, Simpson has made a uniform album despite pulling from disparate sources (crunching IDM, swirling ambient, dark 'n' moody Detroit-style techno, middle-of-the-road drum'n'bass, trip-hop), but it's all but guaranteed to make longtime fans antsy by the end of track four. ~ Andy Kellman

Using guitar effects to enhance the explosion of a hurricane Nicky builds a unique groove on every solo that is causing many lead guitar players to take notice. HMH started up in Los Angeles in 2004 when Nicky met Rock guitarist Sam Kelly at a club and shared his idea of Heavy Metal Harmonica. It was a natural fit. They discovered with Sam's high energy grooves they build songs that allow Nicky's melodies and lyrics to stand up and soar. 'The two iconoclasts are dangerous with their intent and you can feel it when they‘re on stage and Nicky's harmonica belt is outrageously sic' says Mike Baker of The LA Music Scene. His latest is a series of Cafe's and Asian influenced art. Nicky has also had a semi-professional football career, a theatrical career including touring the world for fourteen years as a professional stand-up comedian. During that time Nicky played the lead in three independent movies and had his music in several others. He worked as a studio musician, edited movies, writing books, poetry, and many screenplays and of course a ton of comedy material.
