$13.15 The Distryct is a straight up no strings attached ROCK band! A high energy band with the experience and talent to entertain and amaze any crowd or venue placed before them! With over 30 years of experience we are seasoned veteran's! Our lead vocalist Jerry Compton began his march into the musical world in the small town of Tazewell, VA! He began as a lead guitar player in bands ranging in styles from blues, rock, pop, and top 40 until he was asked to give his vocal chords a try and shortly thereafter discovered one of the most unique and powerful voices you will ever hear! Shawn Hamlin, our Bass player, also began his musical career in the town of Tazewell, VA! He began playing in his first band in high school as a lead guitar player but shortly joined Tommy C. and The Blues Hounds where he discovered his very natural ability to play the bass guitar like no other! Shawn came very close to reaching stardom on a couple of occasions with this band as an opening act for such artists as Ted Nugent, Molly Hatchet, George Thorogood, and also were considered for signing by a few record labels! In the end it just wasn't meant to be and now Shawn is the power behind The Distryct! Brothers Jeff & Jeremy Groves grew up playing music in the small town of Summersville, WV! Jeff, the older of the two, began playing music of many different genres ranging from southern rock, blues, metal, alternative and so on! He later attended Concord University where he studied classical guitar for several years and also found a very strong influence in jazz! Jeff developed one of the most interesting and exciting playing styles that you will ever hear and is one of the most humble and down to earth musicians you will ever meet! With over 15 years of experience he is one of the best! His younger brother Jeremy began playing drums in bands also ranging in many different genres! He was influenced early on by the Jazz style of drums and still to this day his largest influences are such drummers as Carter Beauford (Dave Mathews Band), Dave Tempesta (Rob Zombie), and Joey Kramer of (Aerosmith)! Jeremy has really matured as a drummer through the years and has developed a style of drumming all of his own! He is a pleasure to play music with and one of the nicest guys you will ever meet! In early 2005 Jerry and Shawn had just split from a band called Catalyst, and began the search for a new lead guitar player and drummer to begin putting something new together! Jeff and Jeremy were playing with a band called Backlash and also had just split from that band and so the two bands united to form The Distryct! We began playing the local bar scene in mid 2005 soon to discover a chemistry like none of us had ever experienced with any band! When we walked on the stage together it was simply magic! It seemed as though we had played music together for years and none of us had ever experienced anything like this before! We decided at this point to begin writing some original music and and this was where we discovered a sound unique only to us! With powerful gritty vocals, blazing guitar riffs, and a thunderous rhythm section we knew it was something special! We recorded our first CD in a basement studio in Bluefield, VA but it just wasn't good enough! We decided to take a break form the studio and began spreading or name throughout the bar and club scene in our area! We trudged on weekend after weekend playing here and there to discover that the crowds really loved us! It was late 2007 into early 2008 that we decided if we were to take the ...
