Elena Obraztsova and Placido Domingo star in this 1978 Zeffirelli production of the Bizet opera with Carlos Kleibre conducting the Vienna State Opera. CARMEN is one of the most highly, and rightly, lauded operas in the history of the art. Shot in 1978, this version of Bizet's work was staged by the legendary Franco Zeffirelli, with the great tenor Placido Domingo in the lead role.

I watched many Carmen opera found this one is by far the best! The first time I watch it was on TV in Miami by that time I taped it to my Sony Betamax. It has been dimagnitized and I no longer have a Beta player. I am glad to find this one in DVD. I like to ask the seller do you have this one in blu-ray?

This is a Carmen I can watch over and over again. Staging is typical of Franco Zeffirelli-- the colors as fiery as a 'corrida' demands and the passion---I am giving it --- 5 stars.

Great Opera House, Symphony and Domingo - end result is a wonderful opera. The children's voices are excellent as well, which is not always the case but this was staged Vienna where the quality is always outstanding.
