| | Joy Division Heartandsoul CDs (1998) Box Set
No One's Listening Anymore CD music
$42.89 HEARTANDSOUL includes the complete albums UNKNOWN PLEASURES (1979) and CLOSER (1980) as well as early demos when the band was called Warsaw, rarities, outtakes and singles. The whole of Disc 4 features previously unreleased live recordings.
Recorded between 1977 and 1980. Includes liner notes by Peter Morley, Jean-Pierre Turmel and Jon Savage.
With the exception of Joy Division's last single, Love Will Tear Us Apart, which faded out gradually into the anguished silence of singer Ian Curtis' suicide, none of the band's songs ever really ended; they either fell apart or collapsed, as if to bring about a proper end to something beyond their grasp. Joy Division couldn't stand still. After introducing the listener to a world of shadow, unspeakable beauty, hopeless vulnerability, terror, and love so pure it contains loss and death, not only in Curtis' lyrics but in the music's totality and power, the band needed to move on to the next signpost, the next weighstation of the unknowable. In the late '70s, in the aftermath of punk's self-consuming, self-absorbed disintegration, Joy Division changed everything. This quartet from Manchester, England, went, in a very brief time, from just another three-chord-wielding bunch of louts called Warsaw, who took themselves too seriously, to become an entity that challenged you to believe that music could take you to places you never really dreamed you could go, and perhaps never wanted to. This four-CD box ...
| | Klute Lie Cheat & Steal CDs (2003)
No One's Listening Anymore music CDs
$13.45 Since his first vinyl outings on Ipswich's Deep Red records Tommy Withers, the production force behind Klute, has remained at the very cutting-edge of drum and bass. His recordings for the Certificate 18 label however, were what brought Klute widespread attention; Withers' music moving with a liquid agility and abstract melodics blazing vapor trails above molten landscapes of percussion. Klute's first two albums for the label, Casual Bodies and 2000's Fear of People, successfully expanded upon this groundwork, shying away from any single subgenre in favor of throwing down a complex blend of sounds with intricate beat programming pushing against the gravitational draw of soaring orchestration. Having split from the label in 2000, Klute contributed to labels 31 Records, Hospital, Advanced, and Metalheadz, before Withers launched his own pessimistically monikered Commercial Suicide, with the bubbling synths of the initial single "Trance Format" providing the foundation for a barrage of well-received ...

| | Dalia Faitelson Point Of No Return CD (2002)
No One's Listening Anymore album
$26.79 These brooding, original songs highlight the throaty, sensuous purr of Dalia Faitelson's singing voice, but her rhythm and lead guitar playing are also quite versatile and substantial throughout. Faitelson's talents extend even farther, in fact: she self-produced the record and wrote all the arrangements for her heavy-hitting band, comprised of Randy Brecker on trumpet, Chris Cheek on tenor, Lelo Nika on accordion, Thommy Anderson on bass, Adam Nussbaum on drums, and Ayi Solomon on percussion. Not unlike Basia Schechter and Pharaoh's Daughter, Faitelson's group filters a variety of ethnic elements through the prism of a signature sound, melding complex harmonies and rhythms with rock and pop undertones. "Birds, Planes & Flying Papers," the sole instrumental, picks up the tempo and brightens the mood, and the end of the program is particularly ripe with contrasts: first the angular jazz fusion of "The Informer," then the elegant interplay of acoustic guitar, soprano ...
| | Terranova Hitchhiking Non-Stop With No Particular Destination CD (2002) (Import) Germany
No One's Listening Anymore CD music
$8.69 Hitchhiking Non-Stop With No Particular Destination is as difficult to keep track of as the name of the band itself. Adjusting the name to Edition Terranova, the trio of Mastermind Fetisch, Meister, and Shapemod come up with a diverse batch of work that covers quite a bit of ground: trip-hop, hip-hop, and big beat. The German group is joined by Cath Coffey of Stereo MC's (on Shuggie Otis' "Out of My Head," while her voice is electronically modified on "Breath"), vocalist Mike Ladd (who raps on "Sublime" and "Heroes"), and Ariane of the Slits (on "Mongril"). "Equal Rights" explores political and social ideas and "Women Beat Their Men" samples "The Dominatrix Sleeps Tonight," which at one point is slowed down to such a slow pace that it sounds like little more than clicking. ...
