| | There's A Moon Out Tonight: The Very Best Of The Capris CD (2000)
Best Of Trance, Vol. 5 album
$9.85 The Capris were known for the wonderful "There's a Moon out Tonight," one of the great doo wop songs of all time, a song so lovely and delicate that it remains the standard for love songs. They never had another song as good as that -- few bands do -- but they had a number of fine romantic doo wop ballads, all collected on Collectables' There's a Moon out Tonight: ...
| | New Found Glory CD (2000) Bonus Track; Japan
Best Of Trance, Vol. 5 CD music
$9.79 This high-energy quartet performs Blink 182-style pop-punk that owes more of a sonic debt to Green Day than to first-generation types like the Buzzcocks, which means the accent here is on pop. As single-minded in their pursuit of ...

| | Hernan Cattaneo Renaissance Presents CDs (2006)
Best Of Trance, Vol. 5 music CDs
$16.69 This two-disc set inaugurates a new series on the Thrive label, one that will be guided by progressive house DJ Hernán Cattáneo and will reflect his stated desire to bring together "tracks and remixes that translate to a world stage." House music is, like reggae, a genre built on fine distinctions, so it may not be immediately clear to the average ear what constitutes a provincial versus a cosmopolitan house track, but suffice it to say that the music on both of these discs is likely to appeal to adepts of any nationality or ethnicity. The first disc consists of mellower, deeper grooves while the second is given over to more hard-edged dancefloor material, but both discs do an admirable job of combining danceability with listenability. On the first disc, there are some especially fine moments from Dousk, whose "Florence" weaves a particularly dark and hypnotic spell, and Chris Ilopis, who makes the most of ...

| | Clay Aiken On My Way Here CD (2008)
Best Of Trance, Vol. 5 MP3 Album
$11.29 (MP3 Available for Download) The third album by AMERICAN IDOL alumni Clay Aiken betters his sophomore effort, A THOUSAND DIFFERENT WAYS, by playing to Aiken's strengths as a singer and performer as well as hanging together nicely overall. Where its predecessor made it sound as if he was casting around for inspiration (not least on that album's overload of cover songs), ON MY WAY HERE boasts original material that plants Aiken firmly, and comfortably, in adult-contemporary terrain.
Opener "On My Way Here," penned by One Republic's Ryan Tedder, is a poignant, ...
